b) Courses Conducted Over the Past 3 months

i. IMCA Assistant Life Support Technician ~ 19 - 28 July, Singapore This training is the fundamental course for new entrants to the IMCA Life Support Technician. It equips personnel with the necessary skills to control the chamber environment and to have the knowledge of physics, physiology and medical aspects so as to support divers in a high pressure environment. As individuals and companies start to get prepared for the shortage of trained personnel due to the exodus of many in recent years, it was encouraging to see that courses are filling up and being asked for - KBAT conducted its first ALST course since the start of the industry downturn in 2014/2015. Due to popular demand, the training from 19 - 28 July was a full class. Many of them had job offers of work to go to once they had qualified. The students found the course demanding but ultimately rewarding after passing the end of course examination. "There is a lot of information and facts to learn in the 9 days of the course, which is particularly difficult for new entrants who have never been involved in the diving industry previously. We start by sending them pre-course reading material and basic calculations to learn. That way, it give students a headstart and lets them know what they are in for," said Alan Rhodes, Head of Diving Training Department Feedback received:

"I enjoyed the discussions we had with the trainer because he gave his 100%." - Jashanpreet Singh

"The method of instruction was excellent and you have the best man to teach - Alan Rhodes is the best." - Suman G.

"I enjoyed the class presentation. It was good to have a class full of jokes and good information." - Sandeep G.
