India International Science Festival (IISF) launched in 2015 is a celebration to promote Science and Technology and demonstrate how science could lead India towards a developed nation within a short span of time. The aim is to engage public with science and celebrate the joy of science. It shows how Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) provide us with the solutions to improve our lives.
Sustainable and remunerative agriculture has assumed great significance in the present context. Though technological backstopping through formal research organization has led to breakthroughs in yield and income enhancement, grassroots innovation too have potential to contribute towards farmers’ welfare and rural prosperity. While the nation is committed towards doubling farmers’ income by 2022, several farmers have shown business models of enhancing farmers income manifold. Their practices, innovations and linkage system need closer investigation and replication for the benefit of other farmers. A dozen of such innovative farmers were recognized by the Government of India by conferring Padma Awards. The conclave will
deliberate upon salient thematic areas including Grassroots innovation in agriculture, Integrated Farming System
models, Value chains and business models, alternative farming system for sustainable
agriculture, and Policy advocacy for smart agriculture.
