A skilled labor pool is available to the region’s aerospace industry thanks to the numerous workforce training opportunities available in Dale County, including the state’s largest aviation maintenance technology campus.

With over 1,000 enrolled students, the Alabama Aviation Center is the state’s largest aviation maintenance technology campus. The Aviation Maintenance Technology Program includes courses in Airframe Technology and Powerplant Technology, and students who complete each program are prepared for the FAA Written, Oral, and Practical examinations.

Signs of the AAC’s impact on the region’s aerospace industry include:

• Enrollment at the Ozark facility increased by 66% between 2008 and 2010.

• The number of students completing Airframe or Powerplant programs at the Ozark facility nearly doubled between 2008 and 2011.

• 327FAAwrittenexamswerepassedinthefirstquarterof2010 alone.
