xvii Acknowledgements I am immensely grateful to each of the many authors for their contribution to this book, and for being fervent sup- porters of the biotechnology industry. Each of them are suc- cessful in their own right and have selflessly authored their chapter in the midst of a demanding workload. They have graciously shared their knowledge, insights, and lessons they have learned during their professional careers in order to teach the next generation of biotechnology entrepreneurs. I wish to thank Mr. Graham Nesbit, Acquisitions Edi- tor of Elsevier, who recognized the value and need for such a book and who graciously accommodated the extended timeframe required to complete this comprehensive work. Thanks to Ms. Cassie Van Der Laan and Ms. Debbie Clark for their tireless efforts and help in finalizing this manu- script and working out the necessary details to bring this work to print. Thanks to Dr. Mickey Young, neurologist and patent attorney, who graciously volunteered to review many of the chapters and who provided excellent feedback and comments. A special thanks to my wife Verna who read and assisted in editing the seemingly endless revisions to many of the chapters in this book. Lastly, and without reservation, I acknowledge and give thanks to God, who makes all things that seem impossible—possible!

I am immensely grateful to each of the many authors for their contribution to this book, and for being fervent sup-porters of the biotechnology industry. Each of them are suc-cessful in their own right and have selflessly authored their chapter in the midst of a demanding workload. They have graciously shared their knowledge, insights, and lessons they have learned during their professional careers in order to teach the next generation of biotechnology entrepreneurs.

I wish to thank Mr. Graham Nesbit, Acquisitions Edi-tor of Elsevier, who recognized the value and need for such a book and who graciously accommodated the extended timeframe required to complete this comprehensive work.

Thanks to Ms. Cassie Van Der Laan and Ms. Debbie Clark for their tireless efforts and help in finalizing this manu-script and working out the necessary details to bring this work to print.
