Ltd, participated in ISHKS 2015 (Indian Society of Hip and Knee Surgeons), one of India’s most respectable Congress, held from 10th – 12th April 2015, at the world heritage site- the Iconic Taj Mahal Palace, Mumbai. ISHKS 2015: TAJ MAHAL PALACE, MUMBAI Orthovasive was amongst 15 multi national brands providing joint replacement prosthesis at the prestigious ISHKS 2015 congress. Leading MNC’s like Depuy, Zimmer, Smith and Nephew, Maxx and many others displayed their products and capitalized on networking with surgeons from across the country. Renowned Orthopaedic Surgeons from across India and abroad shared their experiences backed with substantive research analysis to a 550 large audience. Orthovasive was focused on communicating its latest offering, CeramTec’s BIOLOX delta ceramic heads with its uncemented THR system. Orthovasive has been promoting extensively about this, since it’s the first Indian entity to offer ceramic heads, which happened after its system was rigorously tested for over a year at CeramTec’s Germany based facility and a couple of reputed universities for performance accuracy. Entire product portfolio of HIP and KNEE systems was displayed along with Signature instrumentation set. Dr Ranawat, at the recently concluded 13th Ranawat conference held in January, advised the preferred choice for the coming decade would be ceramic on poly. A similar polling on the preference of head sizes at ISHKS resulted with 45% of the audience voting for 28mm and 25% on 32mm heads. Significantly, Orthovasive is amongst a few implant manufacturers in India to provide 28mm heads, thus hinting on our in-depth analysis and market aligned strategies. Prominent surgeons including Dr. Avatar Singh, Dr. Ganjrang Patel-Seven Hills, Dr. Rezavi Karim from Bangladesh and 50+ surgeons visited our booth and showed keen interest in our products. This participation helped orthovasive counter the quality related notions that the fraternity has when it comes to Indian Manufacturers, thus creating brand recognition among the top brands in the industry. LIVE SURGERY WORKSHOP AT KEM HOSPITAL: 9TH APRIL 2015 Orthovasive always believes in enhancing and updating the surgeon community with latest trends and practices through its periodic CME participations. Yet another offering of Orthovasive was through a live surgery workshop at KEM hospital on 9th April, targeted at outstation ISHKS participants KEM Hospital is one of the most renowned and well known hospitals in India and also the third best Hospital in Asia, in terms of Patient flow, Surgical Procedures and Patient Rehabilitation. The session was focused at Orthovasive’s Signature THR system and its latest offering CeramTec’s BIOLOX delta heads. Dr Avinash Supe, during his inaugural speech, wished Dr Vaidya, who also happens to be his old friend, and also hoped Biorad would come up with a ‘BIO HIP’ in the future. Dr. Vaidya, the operating surgeon and speaker was impressed about the instrumentation and implant handling, also, strongly recommending the same to the audience. Post surgery, Dr. Martin Zimmermann’s presentation on the ‘Significance of BIOLOX delta ceramic heads’ was highly insightful and addressed several queries raised by Dr. J Pachore and Dr. Atul Panghate associated with KEM Hospital. Dr. Atul Panghate also moderated the live surgery discussion, which happened on a two way fibre optic communication providing HD Quality transmission for enhanced experience. Through this live demo, Orthovasive managed to break the Indian Manufacturer misconception, clearly making its mark as a premium quality manufacturer with dedicated focus on providing prosthesis with zero defect. Biorad Medisys’ Orthovasive division is on upward growth trend. The division is being spruced up with senior level appointments along with a complete overhaul of its manufacturing unit at Pune.

Mr Rajesh B Waghmode has assumed responsibilities of the Plant since March 2015 and will be spearheading design and production of orthopedic implants and instrumentation.

The plants proposed façade is futuristic and boasts of imported state-of-the-art machinery delivering increased production output to meet growing market needs.

Tuberculosis of the hip constitutes approximately 15% of all cases of osteoarticular tuberculosis. The common age of presentation is in the second and third decades. In Stages II and III of the disease, the radiologic features are very obvious and diagnostic, and almost always predict the final clinical outcome. A progressive pattern of destruction of the hip occurs in patients who are not treated. Treatment must be instituted early with an aim of salvaging the hip. Treatment comprised of drug therapy, traction, and supervised mobilization produces good results in patients with early stages of the disease. Patients who do not have a favorable clinical response to conservative treatment should have surgery before the hip is destroyed. In the eastern hemisphere, patients prefer a painless but mobile joint, for satisfying the customary needs of squatting, sitting cross-legged, and kneeling. Therefore, excision arthroplasty produces satisfactory results as compared with hip arthrodesis. Total hip arthroplasty should be considered only after a safe period of absolute disease quiescence.

CURRENT TRENDS IN IMPLANT INDUSTRYMEDICAL IMPLANTS AND PRINTABLE BODY PARTS TO DRIVE 3D PRINTER GROWTH

False teeth, hip joints and replacement knees – and potentially printable skin and organs – will drive growth in the burgeoning market for 3D printers over the next decade, according to new research.

A report suggests that dentistry and medicine will increasingly harness one of the 21st century's most exciting techno-logical breakthroughs.

The technology is better known to British households for its ability to replace broken crockery or produce awkward figurine "selfies."

But a report by Cambridge-based market research firm IDTechEx says ceramic jaw or teeth implants and metal hip replacements will become increas-ingly common 3D fare.

The parts are created by nozzles laying down fine sedimentary layers of materi-al that build a product indistinguishable from an item that has rolled off a factory conveyor belt. While printing of complete organs for transplants may be decades away, the use of pieces of tissue for laboratory toxicology tests for cosmetics or drugs could be ready within five years, helping the medical market for 3D printers overtake all other sectors.

Already, 3D printers have been used by the medical industry to create a jaw, a pelvis and several customized hip replacements from metal. This year, surgeons in Newcastle upon Tyne created a titanium pelvis for a man who lost half his original one to a rare bone cancer, while in May doctors in South-ampton completed Britain's first hip replacement made using a 3D printer. Professor Richard Oreffo at the Universi-ty of Southampton, who helped develop the hip replacement technique, said at the time: "The 3D printing of the implant in titanium, from CT scans of the patient and stem cell graft, is cutting edge and offers the possibility of improved outcomes for patients."

• Vancouver B2 type peri-prosthetic fracture femur requires revision surgery using a long revision femur stem with or without additional stabilization using plate or encirclage wires.

• In Vancouver B2 type peri-prosthetic fracture femur, surgeon should aim to get stability of femur component in distal femur fragment, beyond the fracture site to make the construct distally loading.

• Revision femur stem by Indus provides a good choice in such scenario due to the following features:

• 12/14 taper compatible with all femur heads and acetabular cup components.

• CoCr alloy conforming to ASTM F- 75.

• Corundum blasted surface for easy and faster osseointegration for uncemented use.

• 5 longitudinal ribs with sharp edges which snugly engage the distal femur cortex giving rotational stability.

• Longer stem length to engage in the healthy bone, distal to the original fracture bed, and thus bridge the fracture or older fixation region.
