not all vitamin c is created equalThere are many Vitamin C products available on the market – but many of them may not deliver the brightening they promise. There are two main factors that make Vitamin C products effective:

• Stability: Vitamin C needs to be highly stable so that it remains active and efficient. This is Vitamin C’s most well-known shortfall. Traditional forms of Vitamin C are easily oxidized upon exposure to air, heat or water. This can cause the formula to lose its antioxidant power and become less effective.

• Bioavailability: In order for Vitamin C to brighten and firm, it must get to where it’s needed in the skin. If topical Vitamin C products aren’t optimized so that the Vitamin C is bioavailable and remains stable, they will produce little to no benefit for the skin.

The term “deep treatment” explains exactly what the skin is receiving during this module: products that penetrate deeply to deliver professional results. This portion of your treatment – when skin is cleansed and prepped for optimal product penetration – should be dedicated to intensively targeting your client’s specific skin concerns and conditions. These may range from dehydration and sensitivity to signs of premature aging and acne.

deep treatment module protocol:

1. Apply ½ tsp of BioLumin-C PRO Serum to face, neck and chest.

2. Choose an electrical modality:

• Microcurrent on specific iontophoresis

• Ultrasonic on penetration mode

• Galvanic iontophoresis

• Note: LED should not be used, as it may degrade the Vitamin C.

3. You may choose to use a professional masque for further added benefits. Choose from: Colloidal Masque Base, MultiVitamin Power Recovery Masque, Clinical Oatmeal Masque or Conductive Masque Base. These masques may be applied before or after the use of electrical modalities.

Now is the time to apply and layer any finishing products that should remain on your client’s skin for the rest of the day. This includes products you plan to prescribe or sample to your client as part of their Face Mapping skin analysis and take-home Skin Fit-ness Plan.

dermal layering module protocol:

1. Spritz skin-specific toner over face, neck and chest.

2. Apply ¼ tsp of BioLumin-C PRO Serum to face neck and chest.

3. You may use an electrical modality for 1-2 minutes.

4. Apply a prescribed eye treatment.

5. Finish with a skin-specific moisturizer and SPF over face, neck and chest.

6. Complete the client’s Skin Fitness Plan and a 1+2 prescription, including BioLumin-C Serum and BioLumin-C Eye Serum.

alternative tools to use with biolumin-c pro serum:

Cold Globes: Glass spheres filled with non-freezing liquid that easily chills. Often used to tighten aging skin and/or soothe sensitized skin.

Cold Rollers: Metal rollers filled with a gel that can be effectively frozen to soothe, calm and minimize skin irritation or discomfort.

Cold Stones: Marble stones used to cool the skin and reduce inflammation.

Cold Peltier: An electrically controlled metal device that helps minimize redness and irritation.

Warm Stones: Basalt rocks that hold heat and are used to warm the skin. Ideal for aging, stressed, non-sensitized skin.

Warm Peltier: An electrically controlled metal device that helps increase product penetration and oxygen to the skin. Ideal for aging and/or dehydrated skin.

FAQsHow is this product different from Dermalogica’s retail BioLumin-C Serum? To optimize BioLumin-C PRO Serum for use in the treatment room, we formulated it with a unique Dual-Polymer Matrix, which adds up to 3 minutes of slip and glide – making it ideal for use with electrical modalities.

Is BioLumin-C PRO Serum compatible with electrical modalities? Yes; BioLumin-C PRO Serum is water-based and conductive, delivers excellent slip and glide and can be used with most electrical modalities to enhance product penetration. Please do not use BioLumin-C PRO Serum with LED, as the light may degrade the Vitamin C.

Can this product be used on eyes and lips?We do not recommend using this product on the eyes or lips. For the delicate eye area, use BioLumin-C Eye Serum.

Can I mix this product with IonActives or layer it with Masques? BioLumin-C PRO Serum can be applied prior to any Dermalogica PRO masque; this is an excellent way to maximize results. We do not recommend mixing this product with IonActives.

What is the difference between BioLumin-C PRO Serum and Oligopeptide IonActive Serum?BioLumin-C PRO Serum brightens skin and addresses pigmentation along with premature signs of aging. Oligopeptide IonActive Serum specifically targets pigmentation.
