The structure of 7 Center Region


The 7 Center Region covers 34.100 km² (14,31% from Romania’s total

surface) and includes 6 counties:

REPA Sibiu function based on:

• Emergency Ordinance nr. 195/2005 regarding

Environmental protection;

• Government Decision nr. 1635/2009 regarding

organization and functioning of the Environmental

Ministry and Water Management.

• Government Decision nr. 918/2010 regarding

reorganization and functioning of the National

Environmental Protection Agency;

General responsibilities of REPA Sibiu:

Fulfills the responsibilities of the NEPA at regional

level in the following domains:

• Implementation of environmental strategies and

policies

• Implementation of current legislation and

regulation

Manages the regulation procedure and issues

certificates, agreements and authorizations

Cooperates with the Monitoring, Synthesis and

Coordination Service for the EPER inventory

Structural relief includes:

-47% mountainous area;

-53% hilly area of the Transylvania, with small islands of

steppes;

The hydrografic network is dominated by the upper and middle

sectors of Olt and Mures basins.

7 Center Region has a special biodiversity:

-two of the five bioregions present in Romania are being well

represented here: alpine and continental

-there are also some small steppe islands

The Carpathian Mountains in Romania cover 6887 sqkm and

more than 40% of this surface is part of 7 Center Region
