WHAT WE WILL STUDY?
• CHILDHOOD
• AN ENTREPRENEUR
• SPACE X
• FUTURE TECHNOLOGY AND A.INTELLIGENCE
CHILDHOOD
• Musk was born on June 28, 1971, in Pretoria, Transvaal,
South Africa, the son of Maye Musk , a model and dietician
and Errol Musk, a South African electromechanical engineer,
pilot, and sailor.
• He has a younger brother, Kimbal (born 1972), and a
younger sister, Tosca (born 1974).He lived with his father
after parents split in 1980 and relations were bitter.
• During his childhood he was an avid reader. At age 10, he
developed an interest in computing with the Commodore
VIC-20. He taught himself computer programming at the age
of 12.
• Musk was a very quite child and was bullied in his childhood.
Musk attended the English-speaking Waterkloof House
Preparatory School, and later graduated from Pretoria Boys
High School. The years were lonely and brutal, from his
descriptions.
• At the age 17, in 1989, Elon Musk moved to Canada to attend Queen’s
University and avoid mandatory service in the South African military. He
left in 1992 to study business and physics at the University of
Pennsylvania. He graduated with an undergraduate degree in economics
and stayed for a second bachelor’s degree in physics.
• It was there that he met Justine Wilson, an aspiring writer. They would
marry and have five sons together, twins and triplets, before divorcing in
2008.
• In March 1999, Musk co-founded X.com named as paypal later, an online
financial services and e-mail payment company. It soon became the
online-payment system of choice, with a few thousand users multiplying
to more than 1 million in a few months.
EXTRAORDINARY
ROAD TO SUCCESS
• In October 2002, PayPal was acquired by
eBay for $1.5 billion in stock. Before the
sale, Musk owned 11 percent of PayPal
stock.
• Musk had begun to dream up a miniature
experimental greenhouse that he could
land on Mars. The greenhouse, which he
called "Mars Oasis," would contain crops
and would, he hoped, rekindle faded
public interest in space exploration.
• Musk founded his third company, Space
Exploration Technologies Corporation, or
SpaceX, in 2002 with the intention of
building spacecraft for commercial space
travel
• With US$100 million of his early fortune, Musk founded Space Exploration
Technologies, or SpaceX, in May 2002. Musk is chief executive officer
(CEO) and chief technology officer (CTO) of the Hawthorne, California-
based company.
• SpaceX develops and manufactures space launch vehicles with a focus
on advancing the state of rocket technology. The company's first two
launch vehicles are the Falcon 1 and Falcon 9 rockets and its first
spacecraft is the Dragon.
• In 2006, SpaceX was awarded a contract from NASA to continue the
development and test of the SpaceX Falcon 9 launch vehicle and Dragon
spacecraft in order to transport cargo to the International Space Station.
SPACE X
• In early 2012, approximately two-thirds of the company were owned by its
founder and his 70 million shares were then estimated to be worth $875
million on private markets.
• In January 2015, SpaceX raised $1 billion in funding from Google and
Fidelity, in exchange for 8.333% of the company, establishing the
company valuation at approximately $12 billion.
• SpaceX currently operates three orbital launch sites, at Cape Canaveral,
Vandenberg Air Force Base, and Kennedy Space Center, and have
announced plans for a fourth in Brownsville, Texas.
SPACE X
• Artificial intelligence is intelligence
demonstrated by machines, in contrast to
the natural intelligence (NI) displayed by
humans and other animals.
• Musk warns that it could be very dangerous
and start a war if not controlled by
government and a fundamental risk to
human civilization.
• They first attack our jobs and then
everything but if done very carefully and
proper gov control,it can be very effective.
• Peope are not aware about AI.

ENTREPRENEUR
• It was clear that SpaceX was more than a hobby to
Musk, who invested $100 million to get it started.
The Falcon 1 made the history books in 2009 as
the first privately-funded, liquid-fueled rocket to put
a satellite into Earth’s orbit.
• The company has also made money. In 2006,
NASA gave SpaceX a contract to develop the
Falcon 9 launch vehicle, which it followed up with
another $1.6 billion contract in 2008. But beyond
headlines and profits, Musk sees SpaceX as filling
a vital need.
• Musk has stated that he does not believe the U.S.
government should provide subsidies to companies
but should instead use a carbon tax to price in the
negative externality of air pollution.
ENTREPRENEUR
• Armed with additional Falcon 9 boosters, In December 2013, a Falcon 9
successfully carried a satellite to geosynchronous transfer orbit, a
distance at which the satellite would lock into an orbital path that
matched the Earth's rotation.
• In February 2015, SpaceX launched another Falcon 9 fitted with the
Deep Space Climate Observatory (DSCOVR) satellite, aiming to observe
the extreme emissions from the sun that affect power grids and
communications systems on Earth.
• In March 2017, SpaceX saw the successful test flight and landing of a
Falcon 9 rocket made from reusable parts, a development that opened
the door for more affordable space travel.
• The company enjoyed another milestone moment in February 2018 with
the successful test launch of the powerful Falcon Heavy rocket.
INNOVATIONS
• Tesla, Inc. (originally Tesla Motors) was incorporated in July 2003 by
Martin Eberhard and Marc Tarpenning, who financed the company until
the Series A round of funding.
• Both men played active roles in the company's early development prior to
Elon Musk's involvement.Musk led the Series A round of investment in
February 2004, joining Tesla's board of directors as its chairman. Musk
took an active role within the company but was not deeply involved in day-
to-day business operations.
• Musk provided the initial concept and financial capital for SolarCity and
hyperloops. In December 2015, Musk announced the creation of OpenAI,
a not-for-profit artificial intelligence (AI) research company. OpenAI aims
to develop artificial general intelligence in a way that is safe and beneficial
to humanity.
FALCON ROCKETS
• The Falcon rocket family is an American family
of multi-use rocket launch vehicles. The vehicles
in this family include the flight-tested Falcon 1 and
Falcon 9
• The Falcon 1 made its first successful flight on 28
September 2008, after several failures on the
initial attempts.
• Falcon Heavy (FH) is a super heavy lift space
launch vehicle designed . The Falcon Heavy is a
variant of the Falcon 9 launch vehicle comprising
three Falcon 9 first stages: a reinforced center
core, and two additional side boosters.
• They are very cost effective and can be reused
which is one of the most remarkable feature of
this.
HOW IT WORKS?
NET WORTH
• His fortune owes much to his stake in Tesla Motors Inc. (TSLA), of which he
remains CEO and chief product architect. As of December 2017, his net worth is
up more than $7 billion from $13.2 billion in March 2016.
• SpaceX has also contributed mightily to Musk’s net worth. The space-exploration
company he founded in 2002 raised $1 billion from Google Inc. and Fidelity
Investments in January 2015. According to Forbes, SpaceX is valued at more
than $20 billion as of December 2017.
• Musk is also a generous philanthropist through the Musk Foundation, which he
chairs. The foundation focuses on delivering solar energy systems to parts of the
world that have been struck by natural disasters.
• It collaborated with SolarCity to bring a 25 kW solar power system to Coden,
Alabama, after the area had been hit by a hurricane in 2010. After Sōma, Japan
was badly damaged by a tsunami in 2011, the foundation donated $250,000
towards a solar power project.
DREAMING THE FUTURE AND BUILDING IT
• His dream is big.He firt thought of colonizing Mars in 2002 but now he is
building hyperloops, electric cars, solar panels,AI etc with having future in
mind.
• His boring company providing tunnels for faster and safar routes, tesla is
designing driverless cars, solar panels is helping to find new a new and
very effective source of energy.Star link aims to provide free internet
across the globe to everyone living in remote areas.
• Vast galactical explorations and also aims to colonize Mars and Moon.
y
POLITICAL CONTRIBUTIONS
• With Donald Trump announcing plans to pursue massive infrastructure
developments after his successful election to the U.S. presidency in 2016,
Musk found himself on common ground with the new president and his
advisers. That December, he was named to President Trump’s Strategy
and Policy Forum, and the following January he joined Trump's
Manufacturing Jobs Initiative.
• SpaceX has also been dependent on government funding, and has paid
handsomely for it, spending $4 million on lobbying Congress between
2002 and 2016, and spending roughly $800,000 on campaign
contributions to politicians of both parties.
