VENUES

1. Symposium Location: The Symposium will be held at the Faculty of Economics and Business

Administration (FSEGA-Facultatea de Științe Economice și Gestiunea Afacerilor), Babeș-

Bolyai University, in Cluj Napoca, Romania.

TRANSPORTATION

Cluj-Napoca can be reached by plane, train, bus or car.

By plane

Cluj-Napoca Avram Iancu International Airport (website) offers connections with several major cities of

Europe and the World. However, there might be particular cases when it is more convenient to fly to Cluj-

Napoca via Bucharest (see Henri Coanda airport website) or via Budapest (see Budapest airport website).

The Cluj-Napoca Airport has public transport (bus, trolley) and taxi stations. Taxis from the airport take

you to Cluj-Napoca city centre in about 20 minutes and to the Symposium Venue in about 15 minutes.

By train

Cluj-Napoca has rail connections with every major city in Romania and in Europe, however for long

distances this option proves slow and less comfortable. The main railway station is placed close to the

centre of Cluj-Napoca. More detailed information on the railway options is available on

Transportation in Cluj-Napoca

- The Airport of Cluj-Napoca and the Railway Station have transport connections to downtown Cluj-

Napoca. To get there, travellers can choose between taxi service and public transport.

By taxi

A regular taxi fare from the airport to the city centre (about 10 km) is around 30-40 LEI (7-9 EUR) - the

current price is about 1.8 – 2.3 LEI/km. Look only for company taxis and clearly ask the driver for the

price! The airport is within Cluj-Napoca city limits and extra-urban charges should not be applied. In

Romania the taxi (cab) should have a valid badge, and taximeter.

-A taxi transfer from Cluj-Napoca International Airport to Symposium Venue takes 10-15 minutes and

costs about 30-35 lei (or 7-8 EUR).

-A taxi transfer from Cluj-Napoca Railway Station to Symposium Venue takes 15-20 minutes and costs

about 25-30 lei (or 6-7 EUR).

By public transport (bus, trolley)

The public transport stop (bus and trolley) is close to the airport building (walk to the road in front of

the airport and then turn right). There is a booth at the trolleybus stop selling public transport tickets (one

ticket is for two journeys, 4 LEI in total) as well as a ticket machine accepting coins, banknotes and

credit/debit cards. It is not possible to buy a ticket at the driver. Ticket inspections are frequent on this route.

- Tickets must be validated for each trip in the bus/trolley/tram

How to get to the Symposium Venue (FSEGA)

In case of arriving in Cluj-Napoca by airplane, the airport is located at about 6 km from the Symposium Venue. You can use taxi transfer or the public transport.

In case of arriving by train, the Railway (Train) Station is located at about 4.5 – 6 km from the Symposium Venue. You can use taxi transfer or the public

transport.

In order to arrive at the Symposium Venue from the City Centre, take the bus 24, 24 B or trolley 25 from Memorandumului Stop and get off to the 7th stop, to

"University Campus Station". You have to consider about 15-20 minutes for this route.

Money in Romania

The currency in Romania is the NEW LEU (RON), equivalent to about 0.2325 EUR.

Foreign currencies can be exchanged at banks and in many exchange offices located in different places of the town (including the airport). Many cash dispensers

are found, accepting any type of international credit cards.
