    BioeconomyBavarian activities on the

way to a sustainable circular bioeconomy

    Dr. Tobias Schwarzmüller, Bayern Innovativ

  • What is Bioeconomy?

    13.10.2020 Unternehmenspräsentation 2

Bioeconomy Strategy of the European Commission, 2012:

Bioeconomy encompasses “the production of renewable biological resources and the conversion of these resources and waste streams into value added products. Its sectors and industries have strong innovation potential due to their use of a wide range of sciences, enabling and industrial technologies, along with local and tacit knowledge.”

    Update 2018

  • Objectives of a bio-based economy

    13.10.2020 3

    ➢ Reduce CO2-emissions

    ➢ Mitigate climate change

    ➢ Reduce dependence on fossileresources

    ➢ Manage natural resourcessustainably

    ➢ Ensuring food supply
