GLASSWARE STARTER PACKSSince most laboratory glassware is available in case quantities only,
Kimble Chase created Starter Packs to combine assorted sizes of
commonly used glassware items in a single package. Available for
Erlenmeyer fl asks, graduated cylinders, and Griffi n beakers, Starter
Packs come in just the right assortment of sizes. The packs are de-
signed for labs that are just starting out, or for labs that stock items
only according to their needs. Starter Packs contain one of each item
in the most popular sizes; for instance, the Starter Pack for Erlen-
meyer fl asks includes a 50, 125, 250, 500, and 1000 ml sized fl ask.

LIGHT-SENSITIVE SAMPLE STORAGE The new 1.4 ml amber polypropylene storage tube, when used in
conjunction with a secure screw cap, ensures the integrity of light-
sensitive biological samples even over long-term storage periods.
The amber storage tube uniquely safeguards light-sensitive samples
while still usefully allowing visual checking of enclosed sample vol-
ume. Supplied in a 96-position sample tube storage rack, the 1.4
ml amber storage tubes are compatible with almost all automated
sample-handling systems. Manufactured to strict tolerances, the
precision and consistency of Micronic amber storage tubes maxi-
mizes operational uptime when used with automated cherry pick-
ing and other sample handling systems. Produced from high-quality,
FDA-approved polypropylene in a class 7 automated manufacturing
facility, these amber storage tubes resist most organic solvents and
are supplied ‘sample safe,’ free from additives or leachates. Micronic
amber storage tubes are also fully validated RNase, DNase, and py-
rogen free, meaning they can be used to store the most sensitive
biological samples.

BENCHTOP INCUBATORSHeratherm microbiological incubators are available in three different
models: General Protocol, Advanced Protocol, and Advanced Proto-
col Security. Each unit is available in 60-, 100-, and 180-liter sizes
and combines superior sample protection, ease of use, effi ciency,
and an inner glass door that maintains temperature uniformity. The
user-friendly units feature a small footprint that makes them stack-
able without the use of tools, an easy-to-clean rounded interior,
and an intuitive display. With a stainless steel interior, the Herath-
erm General Protocol incubators use gravity convection to provide
superior temperature uniformity, ranging from 5°C above ambient
to 75°C. Heratherm Advanced Protocol Security incubators incor-
porate an over and under temperature alarm as well as a lockable,
alarmed door. The independently certifi ed 140°C decontamina-
tion cycle provides additional peace of mind. The digital timer pro-
vides weekly, hourly, or real-time on/off cycles. An internal socket
allows the use of equipment such as shakers and stirrers within
the unit.

ANALYTICAL AND PRECISION BALANCESIdeal for use in academia, the new Excellence XA Balance line com-
bines fundamental functionality with high weighing performance
to deliver a range of balances that are straightforward and easy to
use but still excel in terms of reliability and repeatability. The XA
Balance line includes two analytical (XA105DU and XA204DR) and
six precision balances (XA1502S, XA16001L, XA3002S, XA303S,
XA5002S, and XA503S). In academia, the robust and durable Preci-
sion Balances are the ideal choice for all typical weighing processes,
such as the preparation of buffer solutions for chemical analyses.
For more specialized research applications requiring the weighing
of small amounts of substances, the XA Analytical Balances provide
the highest measurement accuracy. The XA line provides the essen-
tial functionality needed for straightforward weighing applications
coupled with state-of-the-art weighing technologies to ensure highly
accurate results.

HEATING BLOCKThe DrySyn MULTI-M converts any standard hotplate stirrer into a reaction block for
three fl asks or up to 12 vials. Providing excellent heating and stirring performance but
without the high risk of fi re and toxic fumes from an oil bath, DrySyn heating blocks help
laboratories create a safer, cleaner, and more effi cient working environment. Made of
chemically resistant, 100 percent recyclable anodized aluminum, DrySyn heating blocks
offer excellent heating performance to over 300ºC and can heat a reaction fl ask 25 percent
faster than an oil bath. With a choice of inserts for the standard base, the DrySyn MULTI-M
gives the fl exibility to heat a single round-bottomed 500 ml fl ask in the central position,
or any combination of three fl asks from 5 ml to 250 ml, or as many as 12 reactions in
vials or tubes. The three-way MULTI clamps make it quick and easy to secure fl asks in
place, while DrySyn’s shallow well shape increases reaction visibility and minimizes the
possibility of glass fractures.

PARTICIPATING EXPERTS
We are witnessing an era of fast-paced advances in sequencing technolo-
gies, which are dramatically reducing the costs of sequencing a whole
genome. At the same time, there is growing interest in sequencing spe-
cific portions of a genome using targeted resequencing. This approach
is much more time and cost effective than whole genome sequencing
and generates data less cumbersome to analyze. Targeted resequenc-
ing has been shown in recent publications to be a powerful way to dis-
cover the causative genetic variations for diseases, while exome se-
quencing is being widely used to uncover the causes for Mendelian dis-
eases. Furthermore, the enrichment of more selected genomic regions
has been successfully applied in complex disease studies as well as in
clinical research.
In this webinar, viewers will:
• Learn from our panel of experts about the current successfulapplication of targeted resequencing to the genetic analysis ofheritable diseases
• Hear about potential future applications for this technology
• Gain in-depth insight into the field of targeted resequencing
• Have questions answered from webinar panelists live and in
real time.
