TECHNICAL POINTS
Question 1 Please specify the total height of Overhead Cooling Water Tank supplying water to the fermenters and condensers through the header. This is required for designing the fermenters & condensers.
Answer Pump can be used. Crompton/ Kirloskar/ Premier/ Johnson Pumps
Question 2 Please clarify the disposal or reuse of hot water coming out of Fermenters and Condensers.
Answer Will be used in the Bio-methanation plant
Question 3 Consistency of the contents of the prefermenter such as % of solids, viscosity, sp.gr. and working pressure of prefermenter.
Answer
Hydrogeniser Input TS =15 -20 % , VS =60-80% Methaniser Input TS =8 – 12 % , VS =40-55%
Question 4 Final RPM of the agitator.
Answer With Variable Speed Drive
Question 5 For control valve, flow glass & ball valve you have specified 3” sizes. We feel the size is very big?
Answer Amended and details are provided in the revised tender document.
Question 6
Fermentation Tanks 1, 2 & 3
Working pressure inside the Fermentation Vessel.
Consistency of the contents of Fermenters such as % of solids, viscosity, sp.gr.
MOC of outer jacket of fermenter – Mild Steel or SS 304.
Final RPM of the Agitator.
Control valve, flow glass, ball valve specified as 3”. Please clarify?
For all the fermentation vessel you have provided agitator systems with motor
and reduction gear unit. We suggest instead of agitator system, pumps for
circulating wort (fermenting wash). As agitator system will be costlier than
circulating pump. - Please clarify.
Method of transferring fermented wash to the distillation kettle is not
mentioned. – Please clarify this point.
Answer
1-2 kg/cm2
TS =15 -20 % , VS =60-80 %,
SS 316
VFD based 5 to 100rpm
Details are provided in the revised tender document
Yes Modified
Vacuum Pump
Question 7
Distillation Vessel
Holding capacity ?
Distillation time required?
1 – 3 KW electrical heating coil – not suitable as the contents in the vessel if flammable.
Suggest Thermo Fluid System or steam heating. - Specify preference. If Thermic fluid system is required, then Thermic Fluid Holding Tank, Circulation Pump and Electrical Heating system is required. If Steam heating is chosen, a package type boiler is required with accessories such as Overhead Water Tank, Water Circulation Pump. For this Boiler fuel can be Coal / Furnace Oil / Firewood. - Please clarify.
Liquid Flow Indicator is not required. Instead level gauges recommended.
Ethanol Collecting Tank size & capacity to be mentioned. Since only 500 litres of fermented wash is distilled at a time, the distillation system can only be Batch Type.
Answer
500 Liters
2 hours
With Band type heater
Yes, Level gauges accepted.
150 L/d
Question 8
1. The warm water / hot water coming out of fermenters and condensers can be reused by cooling the same in a cooling tower . Otherwise you have to use fresh cold water from source of supply such as bore well, open well or government supply. Please clarify
2. While you have provided pump for fermentation Tank No.2 and Fermentation Tank No.3, no pump is provided for fermentation Tank No.1. Please clarify.
3. If the fermentation is done in Aerobic conditions, for supply of air, an air compressor is required which is missing in your Tender specifications. Please clarify.
4. Please specify what is 1K, 3M, 4M and in between the line of Alcohol Tank 1 (5B) and Fractional Distillation (6) coloured as “Pink” Box in your flow Diagram
5. What is the size of the shed available for accommodating the bio-Ethanol Plant? (L x B x H)
Answer
1. Yes, there are plenty of treated tannery effluents with less then 500 mg/L TDS for recirculation’s onsite.
2. Specified in revised tender
3. Anaerobic fermentation
4. Specified in revised tender
5. The site visit was arranged to check the available space and again anyone wanted to see the site they can visit the site on their own.

Question 1 Is there any feed preparation process required before Pre-Hydrogen Tank such as Crushing or Shredding or Pulverizing for particle size reduction (if the raw material is leather solid waste, please let us know the particle size, Moisture, TS and VS)
Answer Yes required and included in the modified design.
Question 2 If particle size reduction is required the Pre-Hydrogen tank will act as a collection cum mixing tank for required total solids in substrate before feeding or separate tank is required.
Answer Separate tank is required but excluded in this unit.
Question 3 The feed rate mentioned is 3m3/day for Hydrogeniser, if the feed supplied to the Pre-Hydrogen tank is liquid effluent (if liquid effluent, let us know the value of BOD, COD, SS, VS, TS and pH)
Answer It is not a liquid effluent but solid waste at 2 to 5 % (ethanol residue ) , 3 to 10 % (sludge from thickener) and 12 to 15 % (Tannery fleshing)
Question 4 The gas holder capacity with canopy is not shown for Bio-Hydrogen and Bio-Methane gas storage.
Answer Details are provided in the revised specification and drawings.
Question 5 Heater and Compressor is required in any of our process or not. If required, please clarify in which stage.
Answer Inline heater at digester Recirculation line /feed line.
Question 6 Bio-Hydrogen and Bio-Methane gas generated is used for cooking(mention capacity and number of burners) or Power generation (mention gas genset capacity) or flaring.
