GROVE Eric Naval Historian United Kingdom Contemporary Period BIOGRAPHY After studying at Aberdeen University and Kings College, London Eric Grove became a civilian lecturer at the Royal Naval College, Dartmouth in 1971 and left at the end of 1984 as Deputy Head of Strategic Studies. After a short period with the London based Council for Arms Control he became a self employed strategic analyst and defence consultant, teaching at The Royal Naval College Greenwich and the University of Cambridge and working with the Foundation for International Security. Under the latter’s auspices in 1988, he founded the Russia-UK-US naval discussions and confidence building talks that became official and, with the addition of France, became FRUKUS. In 1993 he joined the University of Hull where he became Reader in Politics and International Studies and Director of the Centre for Security Studies. In 2005 Dr Grove moved to the University of Salford where he became Professor of Naval History and Director of the Centre for International Security and War Studies. In 2013 he moved to Liverpool Hope University as Professor of Naval History and Senior Fellow in the Centre for Applied Research in Security Innovation. He retired from Hope in 2015 and is now an independent naval historian, maritime strategist and international security analyst as well as being closely involved in the establishment and growth of Maritime History North. Contemporary Period BIOGRAPHY

After studying at Aberdeen University and Kings College, London Eric Grove became a civilian

lecturer at the Royal Naval College, Dartmouth in 1971 and left at the end of 1984 as Deputy Head of

Strategic Studies.

After a short period with the London based Council for Arms Control he became a self employed

strategic analyst and defence consultant, teaching at The Royal Naval College Greenwich and the
