Biography BooksBiography Books
• In our media center, one section of the library is Biographies. A biography is the story of a person’s life, written by someone else.
• Biography books are found in nonfiction. The spine sticker will be labeled “B” on the first line. The second line will contain the first three letters of the LAST name of the person the book is about.
• For example, a book about Martin Luther King will have B KIN on the spine label.

• You would go to the
Biography section
and look under LIN
for Lincoln.

A biography is a book about a person’s life.
The books in the biography section are arranged on the shelves in alphabetical order by the last name of the person the book is about.
Martin Luther King would come before Abraham Lincoln because K comes before L in the alphabet.
The spine sticker would have B KIN typed on the label. The Lincoln book would have B LIN typed on the label.

• Many books about famous African Americans are found in the biography section of the library. Biographies are
non-fiction books because they are true stories.
How to search for biographiesHow to search for biographies
• In Destiny, you can search by author, title, keyword or subject.
• If you were searching for a book about Rosa Parks, you would type in Rosa Parks. It doesn’t matter if you type the word in all capitals or in lower case.
