How to Determine Binder CapacityThe most common mistake people make when determining binder capacity is measuring the outside spine width. Did you know that capacity is the measurement of the inside diameter of the binder ring NOT the width of the spine?

Below are examples of the three most popular ring styles along with the proper way to measure each capacity.

Round Ring Straight D-Ring Angled D-Ring

What size binder do I need? A good rule to determine the size of binder is for every 100 pages – you need 1⁄2" binder capacity. You should also consider how many pages you plan to add to your binder in the future!

The following chart is a guide for the ring size you should order based on the number of sheets you expect the binder to hold. These capacities are for Round Ring, D-Ring, and Angled D-Ring binders.
