The Trumpet Outings series was con-ceived to provide trumpet players of all levels with a large and inclusive musical horizon. These books provide original etudes and duets inspired by various composers and styles which re-flect music history. From Renaissance to Debussy, from Mozart to Jobim, via Bartók, Schoenberg, Steve Reich, Jazz, Celtic and other folk music, Charles Reskin cleverly combines stimulation and entertainment, humor and emotion with professionalism and pedagogy. Easy Trumpet Outingsage: 9 to 12 (approx). the student should have had at least two years or more of les-sons and/or band participation and have a reasonable command of the instrument.

the playing range mostly lies in the middle register. each piece is accompanied by performance suggestions and a few facts about the style or genre of the piece. at the end of the book there is an alphabeti-cal glossary of all the musical terms, dy-namics and markings used in the music.

Intermediate Trumpet Outingsage: 12 to 16. the student should have considerable command of the instrument, and a good grasp of rhythm, phrasing and musical style.

La série des Trumpet Outings a été conçue pour familiariser les trompet-tistes de tous niveaux à un large ho-rizon musical. Ces cahiers présentent des études et des duos originaux ins-pirés des divers compositeurs et styles qui jalonnent l’histoire de la musique: de la Renaissance à Debussy, de Mo-zart à Jobim, en passant par Bartok, Schoenberg, Steve Reich, le Jazz, les musiques populaires celtes et autres. time to kick back and dance, irish style! the key signature says Bb, but it's really in eb lydian mode. don't freak out about the name, just remember that your "home" key is built on eb, even if the scale sounds a bit weird. that's what gives the piece its Celtic folk-dance flavor.

l’armure indique une tonalité de sib, mais nous sommes en mib lydien. Pas de pa-nique, souviens-toi juste que la tonalité est construite sur mib, même si la gamme sonne un peu bizarre. C’est ce qui donne à la pièce sa saveur de danse populaire celtique.

zeit zum tanzen, wie in irland!

die vorzeichen geben eine B-tonart an, wir sind aber in es, lydischem modus. Keine angst, erinnere dich nur, dass die tonart auf es basiert, auch wenn die tonleiter ein wenig schräg klingt. dies gibt dem stück den irischen volkstanz- duft.

a pentatonic scale has only five notes. if you play a C major scale and leave out the 4th note, F, and the 7th note, B, you’ll have a pentatonic scale. it may remind us of Chinese music, but it’s really used in many kinds of music, even rock and jazz.

PART A uses a C pentatonic scale (with a few “borrowed” notes in bars 9 and 10).

PART B uses two different pentatonic scales - the first on F, the second on Bb. Can you find them?

une gamme pentatonique comporte uni-quement 5 notes. si tu joues une gamme de do majeur en sautant la 4e note, Fa, et la 7e, sib, tu as une gamme pentatonique. elle rappelle la musique chinoise, mais elle est employée dans divers genres mu-sicaux, même en rock et en jazz.la PART A emploie une gamme penta-tonique de do majeur (et “emprunte” quelques notes des mesures 9 et 10).

la PART B emploie deux gammes penta-toniques différentes - la 1ère sur Fa et la 2ème sur sib. trouves-les!

eine pentatonische leiter besteht einzig aus 5 tönen. spieltst du eine C-dur ton-leiter und lässt die 4. note, F, und die 7., B, aus, entsteht eine pentatonische leiter. sie erinnert an chinesische musik, wird aber in zahlreichen musikarten eingesetzt, sogar in rock und Jazz.

PART A verwendet eine pentatonische C-leiter (mit “ausgeliehenen” noten in takt 9 und 10).

PART B verwendet zwei verschiedene pentatonische leitern - die erste auf F, die zweite auf B. mache sie ausfindig!
