Curators Constance Rich- ards, Bora’s widow, and Warren Wilson art profes- sor Dusty Benedict have as- sembled a temporary exhib- it drawing from Richards’ personal collection of the artist’s drawings, paintings, sculpture, jewelry, and piec- es on loan from other private collectors. Vadim Bora: A Visual Leg- acy of Expressive Freedom from Initial Spark to Final Form will remain on display at the Elizabeth Holden Gal- lery through Nov. 30. The exhibit includes hand drawn renderings for large- scale creations and maquettes, three dimensional Plasticine clay or cast stone models, including the ones for “Cornelia and Cedric” at Biltmore Estate and “The Wings of Freedom” MARK-ELLIS BENNETT Beacon correspondent at the Charles George VA Medical Center. The collection punc- tuates not only Bora’s proficiency in vari- ous media, but also his remarkable diversity of style. Benedict spoke to the large gathering about how the presen- tation was organized. “What finally emerged was to base this show on his different series’ and the broad mastery of the many different mediums that Vadim had the freedom to explore.” Benedict thanked Richards for his chance to work with her on the project. “It’s really given me a greater under- standing and apprecia- tion for the richness of Vadim’s work as well as his talents. Constance has shared a lot of very personal stories as we’ve sifted through a tremendous amount of work that Vadim accomplished.” Richards, who is the director the art gallery at Biltmore Village’s Grand Bohemian Hotel, and Benedict, will hold a curators’ talk about Bora’s legacy at Warren Wilson on Sunday, Nov. 11 at 3:00 p.m. For more information call the gal- lery at 828 771-3038.

A retrospective of the late multimedia artist Vadim Bora opened with a recep-tion at Warren Wilson Col-lege’s Holden Visual Arts Center on Friday, Sept. 28.

Curators Constance Rich-ards, Bora’s widow, and Warren Wilson art profes-sor Dusty Benedict have as-sembled a temporary exhib-it drawing from Richards’ personal collection of the artist’s drawings, paintings, sculpture, jewelry, and piec-es on loan from other private collectors.
