BILFINGER OIL AND GASBilfinger’s Oil and Gas Division provide Maintenance, Modification and Operations (MMO) services to the offshore and onshore oil and gas industry, in the key markets of the UK, Norway, Denmark and the USA.

The division comprises four legal entities: Bilfinger Salamis Limited (UK), Bilfinger Industrial Services UK Limited (UK), Bilfinger Industrier AS (Norway), and Bilfinger Salamis Inc (USA), employing a total of 5,500 employees.

A range of integrated inspection, access, fabric and mechanical maintenance services and specialist products are provided to a range international and national operators.

Non-Destructive Testing - Continued, Safe Production

Bilfinger Salamis UK’s experienced inspection team delivers a full range of conventional and specialist inspection methods to clients, both onshore and offshore. Our team comprises multi-disciplined, dedicated professionals supported by our UKAS BS EN 17020 accreditations and ISO approved management systems.

We have c.200 NDT technicians who are engaged in the delivery of conventional and specialist NDT using rope access as appropriate. Our comprehensive range of advanced NDT systems can be utilised to provide effective and robust solutions to non-invasive inspection. Our specialists work with clients to deploy the most effective NDT techniques to sustain asset integrity.

Integrated Service

Our inspection personnel integrate with our fabric maintenance teams to provide multi-skilled teams of personnel with NDT, blasting, painting and insulation skills.

We offer a comprehensive service from survey and reporting, to development and execution of an achievable programme of repair. This Find and Fix approach drives significant cost savings and efficiencies whilst accelerating the execution and close out of anomalies.

Radiography Bay

Our inspection facility at Aberdeen’s Bridge of Don includes a radiography bay – specifically engineered to house isotopes of up to 40 curies of Se75, 40 curies of Ir192 or 160Kv of X-rays.

This offers Bilfinger Salamis UK‘s clients a radiography facility which is tailored to deliver radiographic inspections of process pipework, and enables them to review and validate NDT techniques prior to deployment.

Bilfinger Salamis UK has over 40 years‘ experience in the application of protective coatings for corrosion protection of offshore installations, and we provide a key service to operators by ensuring that their fabric maintenance strategy is appropriate and cost effective for each of their assets, depending on its age and expected productive life.

Our highly-skilled operatives deliver a wide range of surface preparation and industrial coating techniques. We have qualified specialists in the field of surface preparation using hand and mechanical techniques, including ultra high pressure water jetting and grit blasting. Asbestos Management

Removal is not necessarily the only option available, so we also provide an encapsulation and labelling service. The company is a full member of ARCA (Asbestos Removal Contractors Association) and ACAD (Asbestos Control and Abatement Division of TICA).

Scaffold Design Service

Offering a comprehensive scaffold design service, our dedicated team of scaffold engineers provide technical knowledge and designs for temporary support structures, cantilevered and suspended access, temporary buildings, covered structures, bridges and various other design solutions. In addition to conventional tube and fittings, we utilise innovative system scaffolds to ensure efficient and cost-effective delivery of services in compliance with regulatory requirements.

Our detailed drawings for complex scaffold requirements ensure that scaffolding solutions meet clients‘ exact specifications and are provided on a fully-designed and costed basis. Our engineers are certified to travel to offshore installations to provide surveys and inspections.

All Bilfinger Salamis UK scaffolders are fully trained in working at height and hold the relevant qualifications to prove competency. Regular assessment and training is given at our in-house training facility.

Rope Access

Industrial Rope Access is a proven method of achieving a safe work position at height or in areas of difficult access.

Bilfinger Salamis UK is accredited by IRATA (Industrial Rope Access Trade Association) and provides rope access technicians for both offshore and onshore requirements.

Bilfinger Salamis UK can provide multi-discipline teams using rope access to carry out a complete range of specialist tasks.

• Bilfinger Underdeck Access System

Bilfinger Underdeck Access System (UAS)

Bilfinger UAS has been developed by Bilfinger and Layher to achieve an underdeck access platform with minimal contact points to underdeck existing steel beam framework.

The system offers the flexibility to overcome various types of structural, plant and pipework obstructions normally encountered in congested offshore/onshore locations. Additionally, Bilfinger UAS can cantilever past the platform edge by 2m, which makes this product unique compared to other alternative access products currently available.

Bilfinger UAS is fully compliant with industry legislation and BSEN12811-1. Due to its lightweight design and ease of installation, the system reduces potential exposure to manual handling and working at height activities.

Trade-Based Training

The offshore industry can be unpredicatable and often requires personnel to mobilise within a day. This means that it’s essential that workers have all of the necessary qualifications required and are competent to complete work needed when they arrive on the platform. The Bilfinger Salamis Skills Centre is OPITO, ARCA, ICATS and Water Jetting Associaion accredited, and provides a range of industrial trade qualifications. Our training courses combine theoretical knowledge and practical experience to develop advanced skills in personnel operating within technically demanding industries.

As well as providing dedicated training services to external clients, the Bilfinger Salamis Skills Centre also acts as the cornerstone for the continued development of over 2,000 Bilfinger Salamis UK personnel. We play a key role in the recruitment, training and retention of the next generation of industrial workers by ensuring that delegates receive the highest standard of training, in line with client requirements and legislation, and exceed international industry standards.

Consultancy

At the Bilfinger Salamis Skills Centre, we are aware of the growing need for flexible training for onshore and offshore projects. Our in-house team of training experts specialise in developing customised packages to respond to specific client/project needs.

Our consultants have extensive experience of identifying work scopes, highlighting training requirements and competency gaps and developing programmes which are compliant with all legislative and industry requirements.

Our facilities are equipped to meet the extensive safety and technical training needs relating to a variety of trade-based testing, including Working at Height, Blasting and Painting and Confined Space Vessel Entry.

Offering scope for theoretical instruction as well as practical training, the facility consists of three fully equipped classrooms, meeting and conference rooms along with a CBT room, a mobile confined space training unit; rigging and lifting frame; blasting tent; scaffolding area, and high-pressure water jetting units.

Our instructors have many years’ experience in delivering quality training packages specific to your workforce, at their worksite, in challenging environments onshore and offshore.
