• The Grand Depart in 2014 takes places in Yorkshire, on the 5th and 6th of July

• This is the opening stage of the Tour de France and takes place in a different nearby country each year before the 23 day Tour de France starts

What did the farmers use to create their moving art?

Big tractors= wheels

Bails of hay= bike frame

Little tractors= pedal chain

Plastic bails= handlebars

Small bails= bike chain

Container= pedals and seat

“As you know, the Tour de France is starting with the Grand Depart in Yorkshire in 2014, and I think it would be great if we could have some creative artwork along the route, just like they do in France. You saw the Farmers moving bike from 2011 didn’t you?

I think it would be a great idea to use people, and see what words we can spell out, and to see what pictures we can make! I look forward to seeing what you can do, and hopefully see you lining the route in 2014!”
