A big thank you to Tara, Helen, Kat, Leonie, Kylie, Jess and Verona from the Parents and Friends Committee who volunteered their time to ensure the day ran smoothly.
Grade 3 & 4 Camp - All Grades 3 and 4 students will be attending school camp in Term 2. This year our overnight camp is at Camp Weekaway, https://www.weekaway.com.au/. You can visit the website for more information. Our Grade 3’s will attend camp from Mon 29th – Tues 30th and Grade 4’s will be at camp from Tues 30th April – Wed 1st May. The cost of the camp is $172 per child. The final payment will need to be made in week 1 of Term 2. Payment plans are available and CSEF for those who are eligible.
Junior School Council News - The last week of term will be a busy week in the Junior School Council calendar, as we have 2 events happening during that week. One will be an excursion to the Shrine of Remembrance for the school ceremony which will be held on Wednesday 3rd of April. Approximately 20 students including the Grade 5/6 Junior School Council members and Schools Captains will represent Strathfieldsaye Primary School This will be quite a memorable event for all those involved. The other event the JSC is conducting is a Pyjama Day for students. Details of this event are available on page 7.
First Aid Reporting - We have now commenced the recording of first aid incidents via Compass. Any student who visits the sick bay will have their injury/illness recorded under their Compass ID. Parents and carers will receive an SMS alerting them that their child has visited the sickbay. Details of the incident or injury can then be viewed by selecting the students image and then selecting the Chronicle tab in Compass. If a child receives a knock to head or if any major incident occurs the school office will contact parents/carers via a phone call.
Be You Team - The Be You (formerly KidsMatter) team for 2019 has now been finalised. Congratulations to the following students who were successful in being selected. The team will be formally introduced at assembly on Friday 22nd of March.
School Council - We held our School Council Annual General Meeting this week and welcomed our new School Council Members for 2019: Darren Flett, Deb Burke, Verona Beasley, Tim Murphy, Nic Hargreaves and Christina Spence. We farewelled our retiring members Jennifer Rogers, Adele Riordan, Russell Adcock, Jess Somerville and Lisa Brown. A special thanks to our retiring President John Fletcher and Finance Committee Convenor Ed Castle for their dedication and contribution to our school council over the past 2 years. Their assistance and ongoing support has been very much appreciated!
‘Sharing Your Thoughts’ Parent Survey - At Strathfieldsaye PS, we really value parent feedback so we would like to give you the opportunity to share your thoughts about a range of topics including funding allocations for certain curriculum programs; the schools involvement in extra-curricula activities; and opportunities for increasing parent engagement in student learning initiatives.
We would also love to hear your thoughts about our current fundraising activities and any new ideas you might have about raising funds for our school. Please click on the following survey link Sharing Your Thoughts Parent Survey and complete the survey before Friday 5th April, so that we can collate the information over the holidays and use your feedback to help guide our direction over the remainder of the year. If you would prefer to complete a paper copy of the survey, please pop into the Office to collect it or give us a call and we can arrange for one to be sent home with you child.
Team China Fundraiser - The Lego Movie 2 There are still plenty of tickets available for our Team China Fundraiser ‘The Lego Movie 2’, so don’t forget to purchase your tickets. Our Team China students are also putting together a raffle with lots of items that have been generously donated by local businesses, so we are asking your help in selling some tickets to assist in the fundraising. A sheet of tickets will be sent home with each child, so if you could help out by selling them to family and friends, tha would be very much appreciated. The raffle will be drawn on our Movie Night, Friday 29th March.
Calling all Dads Come along and socially meet some of the other dads from school at Strathfieldsaye Bowls Club on Friday 29 th March, 6pm onwards. The cost to play Bowls is $6 and there will be a BBQ available (byo meat). The bar will also be available to enjoy a drink after bowls while watching the footy! It’s a great night and we hope to see you there. Please RSVP to John Fletcher by the 26th on 0435 131 606 or [email protected]

The Wakakirri Primary School Challenge is the national search for the best Story Dance created by Australian Schools. We will be performing at Ulumbarra on the evening of the 19th August. Please place this date in your Calendars For those students who have been selected to be part of this performance, a fee of $20 is to be paid to the office or by direct debit details below: Strathfieldsaye Primary School BSB: 063506 Account Number 10113475. Please make sure your CHILDS name is used as a reference. If you have any questions regarding Wakakirri please don't hesitate to ask.
The Grade 5 students have done a great job of participating in the daily mile throughout each week as part of the March Charge. They have had a choice of being with a partner or a small group to conquer the goal of walking/running 50km in March. Students have tracked their
progress throughout the month and so far a total of 1,236 km has been achieved.
Well done to all students. Students are still encouraged to donate their 5cents pieces which will be collected and donate to our Strathfieldsaye Primary March Charge team. Grade 5 students will be visiting classrooms on Fridays during March to collect any donations from students and parents. We’d really appreciate all donations of 5cent pieces and thank you in advance for your support.
In other news: Ethan Giddings, Luke Matheson, Jin Turpie and Paige Hays represented the school at
Division Swimming last week. It was an amazing effort as nearly all of the students made the top 3-4 in their age groups but unfortunately just missed out on progressing to the District Swimming event.
Well done to the 8 students who represented the school at the Dahlia and Arts Festival Running
Relay. Students ran 400m each in teams of 4 racing to get the best time. We even had one of our students help out another school who were one team member short, which was a great thing to hear. Congratulations to all those involved!
All students can now borrow library books before school and during lunchtime between Tuesday and Thursday. Parents are also encouraged to visit the library and borrow books or their children. If families have clean and complete toys suitable for our library lunchtime program we will gladly accept donation. Items such as cars, dinosaurs, lego, dolls and games would be greatly appreciated. Thankyou
