Effective navigation to parking spots based on availability and distance, taking into account the current traffic conditions and parking prices. This involves new parking spot observing smart objects.

Smart Traffic Management Barcelona

On the basis of traffic and environment monitoring (e.g., air quality sensors on connected cars or noise detectors), traffic recommendations will be supported to improve traffic conditions and minimize emissions caused by traffic jams, and waiting times.

Applications: Traffic Information Center tool, Traffic Information to Citizens

Services: Traffic monitoring, Environmental monitoring, Traffic Recommendations

Incentive-based Green Route Planning Barcelona

Usage of air quality monitoring across the city in order to plan routes for cars in an environmental friendly manner. Participants will be incentivized to follow green routes by car or use alternative means (i.e. public transport or bikes).

Barcelona Pilot Scenario (II)

Susana is driving her Smart Car through the city of Barcelona

Roberto issues a Recommendation through the

Barcelona Control Centre

Her app tells Susana of the Traffic Recommendation

The Recommendation suggests taking public transportation

She decides to follow the city’s recommendation and asks the

app for the nearest parking.



When Susana reaches the parking she checks-in

Then she checks her phone app for public transportation

to her original destination

The app tracks her route in order to give her incentives

The app gives her some points for following the green route

Good job, Susana!



Roberto is on his job as a Traffic Information Centre Operator

During his day he has the need to know the status of the city

network

He selects an specific area in the city to be queried

A map of the area with colour-coded information about travel

time and speed is shown

He decides to define some alarmsto be raised when pollution or speed cross some thresholds



A notification is pushed to his application

The alarm says that the threshold he defined has been

reached

He looks at the travel times in the city for information

Finally he defines some traffic recommendations
