Every tour operator has a different priority in mind when putting their tour packages together.

At Cairngorm Travel we aim to combine the very best of value with the option of including or excluding the places of interest. Some passengers go away to relax and take the days out that suit whilst others like to see every aspect of the tour programme.

For that reason we offer the tours excluding entrance fees (unless specified) so that passengers are only paying for the additional aspects that suit. That way we ensure you are getting the maximum enjoyment for the minimum cost.

Please be aware that entrance fees are included on optional packages that incorporate other services (e.g. lunches & additional transport) or on tours that are based on visiting specific attractions (e.g. Thursford Spectacular etc.)

Kindest regards

David Southcott Tours Manager

Dear Traveller,Welcome to our 2022 brochure. It’s a little later planned but in the fast moving world we are in we wanted to ensure our new packages could be included.

As we emerge from some very unusual times we have been listening to preferences and concerns of our customers. Our tour schedule has been adjusted in order to take the unprecedented times into account. Most notably, our focus has moved away from mainland Europe during this time to place greater focus on the Great British Isles in order to take passengers concerns following the pandemic into account as well as the increasingly unpredictable political climate. Of our European destinations only Ireland has be re-scheduled for next year. A number of new British tours have been included for the growing numbers seeking some time out a little closer to home as normality creeps back in.

At the Duke, the renovation continues. During lockdown, more rooms were upgraded, the restaurant extended in order to create more space between people (to give you peace of mind) and the lounge bar was completely refurbished. As a favourite destination on our portfolio amongst our followers we have seen continued investment in the Duke at a time many have battened down the hatches. Consequently we have emerged from these dark times having updated key areas of the hotel which is noticeable as you walk through the door to the roaring log fire.

Work continues at the Duke on some really exciting projects that place our passenger’s wants and needs at the forefront of our priorities. We are working to make the hotel more accessible for the less abled as well as dramatically expanding our Gin and Single Malt offerings in our bars – there will be further announcements on this in the New Year.

Whilst lockdown might be over, Covid still persists and we remain vigilant in keeping our Covid policies up to date in order to ensure passengers health, safety and wellbeing at all times. We’d like to thank our passengers for your efforts in looking out for each other whilst adhering to our guidelines. Our goal is to strike the balance between minimising pre-departure fuss whilst ensuring a safe space for those that may not have left the house much in recent times to confidently step out and enjoy some much needed time away.

We continue to face many challenges in the aftermath of Covid in which we are doing out utmost to offer the best destinations with a personal service for the best value for money. We look forward to seeing you over the coming months and showing you once again that leaving the house and meeting up with old friends and new can be a safe but exciting adventure.

DEAR TRAVELLER...

COVID-19

At Cairngorm Travel, the safety of our guests and employees will always be our number one priority and as a result, we will be introducing new procedures when on one of our holidays. We continuously monitor the Government guidelines in order to ensure your safety and security.

Our Coaches• Customers are recommended to wear a face covering while

travelling on board our coaches, unless they have breathing difficulties or a disability.

• Onboard toilets will be in use during all journeys, however, we recommend minimising the use wherever possible and ensuring hands are sanitised after use.

• Coaches high touch points will be sanitised throughout the day and before customers embark the vehicle. The vehicle will also undergo fogging with sanitiser everyday when the coach is in use.

• All coaches will be fitted with hand sanitisers, which guests will be asked to use each time they embark and disembark the coach.

• When disembarking the coach, customers will be asked to disermbark the coach from the front seats backwards. There will be a strict boarding process in place in which customers seated to the rear of the coach will be asked to board first, both on the transfer journey and on each day of your tour.

• Our drivers will wear face coverings until all customers have boarded the coach and whilst handling luggage.

• At your joining point, each customer will be temperature checked before entering the vehicle. Any customer who has a temperature above the recommended level will bve required to do a lateral flow test before boarding the coach.

The Duke Of Gordon Hotel• Hand sanitiser dispenser stations will be located at the entrance

doors into reception, outside the lifts and restaurants and individual bottles of sanitiser will be available to purchase from reception.

• Keys will be sanitised before each new stay. We encourage you to keep your key with you for the duration of your stay.

• Face coverings will be added to the housekeeping, restaurant and bar team’s uniform.

• There will be enhanced deep cleaning of public spaces and high touch points during the day and our cleaning charts will be displayed.

• We are encouraging guests to wear masks in public areas.

• We are encouraging charging any extras to your room to be settled in one transaction at departure. Card machines will be available for payments to remove the need for cash transactions.

General AdviceAll customers should follow sensible guidance to reduce their risk of exposure to Coronavirus while this outbreak is ongoing. Viruses can easily be passed from person to person, however, the best preventative measure to stop the spread of infections is to wash your hands frequently and thoroughly with soap, then rinse them well under running water. Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands. Always cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in a bin and wash your hands with soap and water.

How you can help us?Do not travel if you’re experiencing any Coronavirus symptoms. These include a high temperature, a new continuous cough, or loss or change to your sense of smell or taste.

Wash your hands before travelling and if you can, bring hand sanitiser for use during your journey. We will also be making hand sanitiser available on your coach and within the hotel.

Please be patient as queues are likely and loading and disembarking will take longer than usual.

We advise wearing a face covering or mask when boarding and travelling on our coaches and feeder vehicles.

Keep to your designated seat throughout your journey.

Once you have arrived at the hotels or are out in resort, wash your hands regularly using soap and warm water for at least 20 seconds, or use alcohol based hand sanitiser and maintain a safe distance from others from outside your household.

Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue or the crook of your elbow when you cough or sneeze and dispose of the used tissue immediately and wash your hands.

N.B. These guidelines are correct at the time this brochure was published and are subject to change with government guidelines.

EUROPE -WIDE GROUP HOLIDAYS

For exclusively booked tours we endeavour to customise as much of your holiday as possible to suit your groups needs including the booking process. We have been working on our group booking process that allows you to have as much or as little involvement in the booking process and day to day running of your tour as you prefer.

You might be a group leader that enjoys having full control of the holiday, collecting the payments, allocating specific seat numbers, table plans and booking attractions yourself whilst entrusting us to merely escort your pre planned tour and this no problem.

Alternatively this might be as much a holiday for you as it is for your friends and you’d prefer to do without the hassles of dealing with money and mailing out travel arrangements to your group. We can offer a service where we handle all of this on your behalf. We can set up your own private tour on our system for your friends to book directly with us either online or over the phone.

We can set up your tour to your specification and then let your passenger’s book and pay with us directly to lighten some of the load. Feel free to discuss the booking process as part of your initial group booking chat.

You can be your own tour leader or a passenger on your own privately lead tour, it’s entirely up to you.

Are you a group leader that loves the holiday but dislikes the admin?

Experience the heritage, hospitality and comfort of our Highland HotelThe Duke Of Gordon Hotel, owned by Cairngorm Travel, is one of the Premier privately owned hotels situated in the Heart of the Scottish Highlands in the village of Kingussie. The hotel looks out across the Spey Valley and the Cairngorm National Park to Ruthven Barracks, the site of an earlier stone castle, constructed in the 1300s by the ancestors of the 1st of Seven Duke of Gordon.

With origins in the eighteenth century the hotel was originally built as a stop-over for passengers travelling by stagecoach along the old A9 to Inverness and the North of Scotland. The facilities and atmosphere now experienced in the hotel, combined with the hospitality of our staff make the Duke Of Gordon the ideal place to stay when visiting the Highlands.

The Duke is one of the leading hotels in the UK in the field of renewable energy. Over the past couple of years the Duke Of Gordon Hotel has really focussed on reducing its carbon footprint and is well on its way to becoming carbon neutral. With huge investment into biomass systems, the Duke Of Gordon’s heating and hot water is generated entirely by woodchip.

The Duke of Gordon and the Spey Valley have enchanted Royalty through the ages dating back to the visit of Queen Victoria and her devoted Consort on 8th October 1861. Come and see why Her Majesty was so inspired that she made specific reference to her visit to the ‘Duke’ in her personal diaries.

The Duke Of Gordon is ideally located if you wish to travel under your own steam. Just 200 yards from Kingussie train station and 45 minutes from Inverness Airport.

At the Duke of Gordon Hotel we take our environmental responsibilities very seriously and consider them a cornerstone for our business. We are extremely focused on mitigating the effect we have on the planet through a number of strategies and are continually trying to reduce our impact by controlling CO2 emissions, reducing the usage of single use plastics and recycling wherever possible.

In 2012 we were the first hotel in the UK to be heated entirely by sustainable wood chip, which is carbon neutral and is all locally sourced from within the Cairngorm National Park. We also considered generating electricity on-site to power the hotel with advanced gasification combined heat and power technology.

Unfortunately the technology was not sufficiently mature at that time and the decision to pursue this was delayed until June 2016 where we were the first, and remain the only, hotel to derive all of its heat and power from locally sourced wood chip. Any electricity that we don’t consume is then supplied to the national grid as carbon neutral electricity.

With a one million pound investment into the technology going forward we are delighted to be doing our bit where we can to try and reduce our carbon footpint. This combined with other areas, such as low wattage LED light bulbs throughout the hotel makes us proud that we are looking to the future with any changes we can make in mind.

We recently joined the Green Tourism Scheme and which has assisted us in further reducing our environmental footprint. We continue to monitor our systems and push to sustainably reduce our impact on the environment whilst attempting to educate and familiarise stakeholders with the benefits of a green orientated outlook.

Sustainability is very important to us.

Our green policy DUKE OF GORDON HOTEL

Cairngorms National Park is an extensive area of outstanding natural beauty

Welcome to a region of contrast, a land of forest and loch, with all the amenities and entertainment of a modern holiday centre in this truly unspoilt part of the world. It's a land dominated by rock and stream, river and mountain, history and heritage. At approximately 1,400 square miles this makes it the largest National Park in Great Britain.

When the winter snow is melting, the mountains and glens take on a new lease of life. The return of the Osprey to the Highlands heralds the arrival of warmer days. Now summer, the heart of the year, with its endless days, ever changing colours and staggering scenery provides a perfect backdrop for many outdoor activities.

The awe-inspiring King of Fish, the Silver Salmon, can be seen making its way to the spawning grounds in the shaded pools at the tributaries of the River Spey. The wooded river banks and heather clad mountains that dominate the Highlands provide protection and refuge for the herds of majestic Red Deer that can be viewed roaming the locality.

Within the Cairngorm National Park is the mountain region known as the Cairngorms, the highest range of Arctic Mountain landscape in Britain. The highest point is Ben Macdui at 4,300ft. This is wonderful walking and climbing country, with unspoiled wide-open views of outstanding natural beauty.

The Cairngorm National Park is home to the Golden Eagle, the Red Deer which roam the Glens and around a quarter of Britain’s threatened species. The native woodland around the foothills of the Cairngorms contain many rare and beautiful flowers besides the remains of the original Caledonian pine forest, home to a variety of animals and birds, such as pine martens, red squirrels, wildcats, crossbills, crested tit, and capercaillie. The Rivers Dee, Don and Spey all run through the Cairngorm National Park and their beautiful valleys contribute to the landscape. The high quality of the river water is important for Salmon fishing and the distillers of Whisky, for which the area is famous.

Take this opportunity to explore Alnwick. Alnwick Castle and Gardens is a real jewel. From the pergola-covered paths of the rose garden to the Serpent Garden’s eight water sculptures. The imposing ancestral home of the Duke of Northumberland has changed little since the 14th century. It's a favourite set for film-makers and starred as Hogwarts for the first couple of Harry Potter films. The interior is sumptuous and extravagant; the six rooms open to the public – staterooms, dining room, guard chamber and library.

Inside, it's just as dramatic, with echoing commentaries and computer-generated interactive displays that guide you through the formation of the oceans, the evolution of sea life, and global conservation issues. (Your entrance to The Deep is included).

1. BAGGAGE AND PERSONAL LUGGAGEAll baggage and personal belongings are carried at owner’s risk and the Company will not accept any responsibility for loss or damage except where such loss or damage is caused by the proven negligence of the Company’s employees. May we draw your attention to the fact that soft suitcases are more susceptible to damage without any negligence on the part of our staff. You must keep to one medium sized suitcase per person (max weight 18kg/40lb). We reserve the right to refuse to carry suitcases which exceed the weight limit either on departure or due to additional purchases during travel, we may ask you to remove any excess weight. No dangerous, contaminatory or pressurised items can be carried, and you must declare to us any items you feel might fall into this category. Should any purchases made whilst on tour cause your amount of luggage permissible to be exceeded, the driver/courier can refuse to carry the excess. If at any time you are in doubt please seek advice from the driver/courier.2. SEAT ALLOCATION AND COACH SPECIFICATIONRequests for particular seats can be made on most holidays when booking, but since allocations are made on a first come first served basis, early booking is advisable. There is a seating plan of the coach for each holiday, but it is possible that on occasion, for operational reasons, a coach of different configuration may be used and we must, therefore, reserve the right to alter a seating plan and allocate seats other than those you have booked, although this will be avoided as far as possible. In this eventuality the replacement coach will be of executive standard, (air conditioning and toilet facilities). We shall have no liability in relation to any such change of specification. On occasion it is necessary to move passengers seat numbers in order to fully utilise the seating on the coach. In this event you will be informed beforehand, and wherever possible passengers travelling in groups will be kept together. Specific seats will not be allocated on coaches which operate on feeder services between joining points and main holiday departure points, on coaches which carry out transfers to and from air and seaports, or on optional daily tours. 3. SINGLE SEAT BOOKINGSPassengers occupying single seats are liable to have their allocated seat number changed, to maximise utilisation of seating available, should the need arise any time prior to departure. No compensation is payable in the event of such action.4. JOINING POINTSPassengers may only be picked up at the joining points stated in the brochure and it is your responsibility to ensure that you are there by the time stated on your Travel Details, which will be sent to you approximately one week prior to departure. The Company accepts no liability for late arrivals who miss the coach, which must depart on time for the convenience of the other passengers. Naturally where such a wide variety of pick up points is served, feeder vehicles or taxis are sometimes involved to take you to the nearest practical point to meet the main coach.5. SPECIAL CARE FOR THE DISABLEDThe holidays in this brochure have been carefully planned to include as much of interest as possible. Inevitably some of the holidays include lengthy periods of travel and some walking on sightseeing excursions. Additionally, many of the hotels will have steps to contend with and may not possess lifts, and although we will try our very best to look after disabled passengers, it is important that you notify us of your disability, by entering the word DISABLED in block letters in the special requirements section of the Booking Form or by passing this information to our Reservations Office when booking. A questionnaire will then be issued, which must be completed and returned to us immediately. We will make every effort to minimise any discomfort or inconvenience, but for obvious reasons are unable to make any guarantees. Folding wheelchairs/motorised chairs can only be carried by prior arrangement.6. GROUND FLOOR ACCOMMODATIONThere is usually a limited number of ground or low floor rooms available, and requests for this accommodation must be made in the “Special Requirements” section of the booking form, but this type of accommodation cannot be guaranteed. If lifts are available at a hotel the facility will be shown on the holiday page.7. ROOMSRooms are specified at the time of booking, and a confirmation is issued showing the type of room which has been reserved, ie double, twin, single, triple. In the event of unavailability of double rooms it may be necessary to allocate a twin. On continental holidays a twin room will often consist of a large base with two separate mattresses, and a triple room will often consist of two beds and a foldaway or bunk bed. Bookings for rooms with private facilities will be deemed to be effected by the provision of either bath & WC or shower & WC. Our liability for the provision of extra facilities for which a supplement is paid shall be limited to the brochure price of that supplement. When a single room is available it will be subject to a supplementary charge and this will be shown on the brochure page.8. SPECIAL REQUESTSIf you have any special requests these should be notified on the booking form at the time of booking and we will endeavour to forward these but regret that such special requests cannot be guaranteed. Requests for specific rooms or positions of rooms or for particular private facilities remain requests and cannot under any circumstances be guaranteed nor shall we accept any liability for any failure to provide a special request. Requests made directly to hotels will not be considered.9. SPECIAL DIETSIf you require a special diet you must inform us at the time of booking with a copy of the diet. This will be notified to the hotel or hotels on your holiday but on certain tours the hotels used are tourist class and whilst offering value for money within the price range, they may not have the full facilities to cope with special diets. Any extra costs incurred must be paid to the hotel by yourself before departure from the hotel.10. ENTERTAINMENTSome hotels arrange additional entertainment which could include music, dancing, film shows, bingo etc. Entertainment offered by hotels is indicated in the hotel description on the holiday page. The nature and frequency of the entertainment presented is at the discretion of the hotel and therefore not guaranteed and could be withdrawn if there is a lack of demand or insufficient numbers in the hotel. Should the normal location of the entertainment be required by the hotel for an alternative function we reserve the right to transfer clients to another hotel or location for any specific entertainment.11. PRICE CHANGES & ERRORSPlease remember that our brochures are produced months in advance of your holiday, and whilst every care is taken to ensure that everything is correct, occasionally changes do occur. We therefore stress the importance of checking all details, including price, before booking your holiday.12. CHILDRENIf you are thinking of taking children on any of our holidays, please mention this at the time of booking, and we will be pleased to check the suitability. Children aged 16 years and under must be accompanied by an adult. Children aged 17 years can travel on our holidays with the written consent of a parent or guardian. Children of 3 years and under are only permitted on Disneyland Resort Paris, Legoland and Theme Park Weekends.13. ITINERARIESOccasionally it may be necessary to change the itineraries due to attraction availability, opening times, as a result of adverse weather conditions or customer satisfaction.14. SEVERE WINTER WEATHER CONDITIONSIf the tour itinerary cannot be fulfilled as planned due to inclement weather conditions we will endeavour to provide a suitable alternative, and regret that under such circumstances, no refunds can be made. The decision to change the itinerary in this case will be at the Company’s/Drivers discretion and their judgement will be final.15. CAIRNGORM TRAVELS BONDED GUARANTEEFor your security and piece of mind, all tours in the brochure are covered under our ABTA bond. Our ABTA number is V5535, for further information please visit the ABTA website at www.abta.com.16. OTHER TERMSOn holiday you may not: a) Bring a pet or any other animal (other than Guide Dogs in the UK only, and only by prior arrangement) b)Play a radio, personal stereo or cassette player on the coach unless personal headphones are used c)Smoke at any time on the coach d)Have a mobile telephone switched on whilst on board the coachCairngorm Travel reserves the unconditional right to refuse a booking or terminate a client’s holiday in the event of unreasonable conduct which in Cairngorm Travel’s opinion is likely to cause damage, distress, danger or annoyance to other clients, employees, property, or to any third party. If you are prevented from travelling or continuing your holiday by such termination, Cairngorm

Travel’s responsibility for your holiday thereupon ceases. Full cancellation charges will apply, and Cairngorm Travel will be under no obligation for any refund, compensation or loss which you may incur. 17. HEALTHUnder normal circumstances most Western European countries do not require visitors to be vaccinated. However, we will indicate any known vaccination or other health requirements where possible for each country visited. You are advised to check with you own doctor before travelling.18. OUR RESPONSIBILITY TO YOUWe accept responsibility for ensuring that all component parts of your holiday as described in this brochure are supplied to you to a reasonable standard and this includes Optional Excursions purchased through our employees or agents. If any such part is not provided in the advertised manner, we will pay you reasonable compensation unless the non-provision was due to circumstances which we could not predict and which were beyond our control such as mechanical failure, adverse weather, road or traffic conditions. i)Please remember that some amenities (e.g. hotel lifts, swimming pools etc.) require servicing and cleaning and may not therefore be available at all times. Some services may be affected by weather conditions and their availability is entirely at the discretion of the provider of the service. Entertainment (particularly live entertainment) provided by hotels is frequently subject to demand and its nature and/or frequency may be varied if there is lack of demand or insufficient numbers staying in the hotel. ii)Some excursion itineraries include the use of ferries and other forms of transport which can be affected by inclement weather, and may have to be cancelled or arrangements changed. Whenever possible a suitable alternative will be offered. iii)The published running times of services are estimates only and we will not be liable for any loss (however caused) arising from delay or failure to operate services in accordance with published timings.19. We must pass the information on to the relevant suppliers of your travel arrangements such as hotels, transport companies etc. The information may also be provided to public authorities such as customs/immigration if required by them, or as required by law. ILLEGAL OBJECTS & SUBSTANCESThe attempt by any person to carry any illegal objects and substance will do so entirely at their own risk and they shall be held personally responsible for doing so with local police, customs and immigration.CONDTIONS OF CARRIAGEAir and sea carriers have their own conditions of carriage and when you travel with them as part of your holiday you will also have a contract with them based upon those conditions which may permit them to limit their liability to you under national law or international convention. Copies of these conditions are available from the Company upon request.GENERAL VISA, PASSPORT & HEALTH INFORMATIONYou should ensure that you allow sufficient time (currently 8 weeks from posting correctly completed application forms) to apply for a passport. a) UK citizens travelling on holiday abroad must have a passport, valid for at least six months after the date of return, before they leave the UK. At present, visas are not required by holders of British Passports to any of the destination countries offered. b) Non-EC citizens: Holders of non-EC passports may well be subject to varying visa requirements for certain countries visited on our holidays, and they should check with their Travel Agent or with the appropriate embassies or consulates to ascertain any visa requirements and the likely time needed to obtain them. We cannot accept responsibility for a customer who is in difficulties because they do not have the correct travel documents with them. We strongly advise all customers to keep their passports securely on their person or locked in a hotel security safe throughout their holiday with us. c) EHIC: On all holidays to Member States of the EC it is advisable to carry an EHIC card. This is available for free from the NHS website and entitles you to free or reduced cost emergency state medical treatment in the EC. d) At present there are no special health requirements, such as inoculations, for any of the European countries featured, for UK citizens. As health recommendations vary from time to time you should seek medical advice prior to departure on a European or Worldwide holiday.TRAVEL DELAYIf you are delayed on a coach tour for more than 6 hours in any one day we will do our best to reduce your discomfort by providing you with appropriate refreshments and meals where that is possible. Where you are delayed at the airport on either the outbound or return legs of the journey it is the responsibility of the airline to provide you with appropriate refreshments and meals. Note that your insurance policy also covers you in some circumstances in the event of delay in air travel.TRIPADVISORAll Tripadvisor ratings were taken during July 2018 and maybe subject to change.

BOOKING CONDITIONS & INSURANCE

It is recommended in the strongest possible terms that all passengers obtain travel insurance for any trips that you book both within the UK and Europe. Whilst we no longer provide travel insurance we are able to refer our passengers to cost effective single trip policies for both UK and European trips. Please speak to a member of our reservations team for more information. Please also be aware that we are not able to offer advice on suitability of any of the products we refer you to and any questions on any insurance products should be put directly to the insurance provider.

Cairngorm Travel accept no liability for monies lost either through cancellation charges outlined in our booking conditions or any additional costs of assistance or losses in the event of unforeseen events whilst away on holiday. Passengers are therefore strongly urged to obtain a travel insurance policy that as a minimum covers: -

• Protection for loss of deposit, cancellation & curtailment (inclusive of a positive Covid 19 diagnosis within 2 weeks of travel). • United Kingdom (and European if applicable) medical and repatriation expenses. • Personal Accident, Personal Liability, Personal Possessions and Mobility Aids cover.
