Funding to Tackle Rural Poverty (Wales)
As part of its new £13.5 million programme to tackle rural poverty in Wales, the Big Lottery Fund is
inviting applications under the Community Development Support programme.
Approximately £2 million has been set aside for community development support grants which will
be up to seven years in length. Up to four grants are available to empower rural communities to
develop their own ideas to overcome challenges they face which are linked to poverty. Funding is
available to third sector-led partnerships to support communities in Anglesey, Gwynedd, Conwy,
Denbighshire, Powys, Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire, Carmarthenshire and Monmouthshire which have
a population of under 10,000. Successful applicants will also be able to award micro grants of up to
£750 to rural communities. There will be a broad remit as to what they can be used for, as long as
they have an underlying aim of addressing rural poverty in their communities, and can be considered
value for money.
The closing date for applications is 1pm on the 15th November 2016.
