Findings: what research scientists want

“Everybody knows their responsibilities to keep up with the articles in the library.”

“People don’t know what other people have looked at.

There should be some system where I know people in a special field have already looked at an article, and maybe those articles pop up centrally.”

Findings: what librarians want

“25% might set up their own alerts, but I go and set up the other 75% because I don’t want

them to miss anything.”

“People expect us to be the drivers of bibliographic policy.”

“We’re purveyors of knowledge, breaking down silos.”

Findings: what marketers want

“It would be nice if there was one place they could all link.

If there were some solution that took medical journals as a whole and when it became published you could pull articles from those so you didn’t have to physically go looking for them, but were delivered to you.”

7

Page 10: Bibliographic Management Practices & Scientific Literature Usage

Findings: what reg.affairs pros want

“Although users have been educated on appropriate

article use, it’s difficult to police all their actions.”
