Biblical Principles for Every Parent

Principle 1Trust in God’s word as a source of instruction and authority in order to parent rightly and effectively.

Principle 2Recognize that all children are uniquely created by God and treat them accordingly.

Principle 3Parents should provide the primary spiritual training of children.

Principle 4Parents are given authority by God over their children for their benefit and edification.

Principle 5Put God’s goals and purposes for children above our personal goals for them.

Principle 6Discipline is a necessary aspect of loving a child.

Principle 7Parents and other adults are to be living examples for children to see and follow. (We need champions and heros, not idols.)

Principle 8We should seek the Holy Spirit’s guidance when we are unsure about how to parent or lead our children.

Principle 9The Bible teaches us to pray for our children.
