He is not here; he has risen, just as he said.” - Matthew 28:5-6 Matthew 28 begins with Mary Magdalene and the other Mary going to the tomb where Jesus laid following His crucifixion. Upon their arrival they were greeted by an angel who said: “Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. (Matthew 28:5-6) The angel’s declaration was good news because there is power in the resurrection of Christ. Ephesians 2:1-10 speaks about this great power that raises us from the dead, telling us that we are new creations, God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God has ordained that we should do. And in Ephesians 3:20 Paul exclaims, “Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us. . . .In Ephesians 6:10 we are commanded, “Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.” With this kind of power, every follower of Christ can walk in victory. The resurrection of Christ should motivate every believer to reach others and make Jesus’ name famous. Our personal testimonies will allow others to know the Christ who lives. Will you accept the challenge and privilege to tell someone about the Savior that redeemed you from addictions, pain, fear, and the miracles, signs and wonders that follow those who believe? “Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here; he has risen, just as he said.” - Matthew 28:5-6
