Place in the Canon:

Historically, Haggai gives us an image of what life in Jerusalem was like after the Babylonian exile.

Theologically, we learn that God’s interests must trump our own.

Devotionally, Haggai prompts us to put our money where our mouth is. If we truly want to honor God then we will want to see his work advancing.
