This month we have a new addition to our Biante Street Machine range, a blown Ford XA Falcon Coupe in the sensational, eye catching, Candy Blue. This model is simply amazing and follows a similar approach to our previously released blown XB Falcon in Candy Apple Red.

The modifications for this model are significant. Out is the regular stock Ford V8, replaced by a 351 Cleveland topped with a 6:71 supercharger and twin Dominator Carbs on the twin hump induction scoop lavished in chrome.

It rides on Drag ET radials on the back while the fronts are ET Front runners. Inside, the blue carpet highlights the white bucket seats with racing harnesses, and four point roll cage. Move to the boot, and again, the blue carpet brilliantly highlights the 5 litre fuel surge tank.

Biante Model Cars are pleased to announce the opportunity to place your orders for our 1:18 Scale Ford XA Falcon Coupe Street Machine. This model will be produced by Autoart at the updated lower pricing structure by Biante.

Biante News:

THE LATEST NEWS FROM THE GENERAL MANAGER

THE NEW CANDY BLUE STREET MACHINELOOKS RIGHT AT HOME NEXT TOITS CANDY APPLE RED SISTER”

It has certainly been a roller coaster ride for Biante Model Cars in 2011, but I am very pleased to be in the position to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

This year Biante Model Cars will be closed from Friday the 23rd of December to Tuesday the 3rd of January 2012. This will mean that the final date orders will be shipped from Biante will be on Thursday the 22nd of December.

For our December/January announcements you will see a very special item that is currently available to order on the cover of this newsletter, the 1:18 Scale Ford XA Falcon Coupe Street Machine, in Candy Blue. For those of you who were lucky enough to secure the red XB Street Machine that we released earlier this year, you will know that these models are truly outstanding, and photos just don’t do this model any justice. As you can see with the images below, this model compliments the red XB quite nicely. We are expecting this model to be available in the 2nd-3rd quarter of 2012 and as always be sure to place your orders with your local Biante dealer or you may miss out, because we only produce the amount of models we have orders for.

We are re-announcing a model this month in the form of the 1:18 Scale Holden L34 Torana, driven by Sir Jack Brabham and Sir Stirling Moss in the 1976 Hardie-Ferodo 1000. As you may be aware, this model was previously announced by Biante at the price of $300.00 which included a 1:18 Scale display case as part of the package and new tooling. We will now be producing this model with Autoart and no longer will it be coming with a display case. The good news for collectors though is that the price for this model will now be $195.00 and it will still be coming with a hand signed certificate by both Sir Stirling Moss and Sir Jack Brabham. In addition to the 1:18 scale release, we will also be releasing this model in 1:43 Scale. This is part of our new strategy at Biante, to bring you the products you want, at the best possible price.

We also have a pretty big competition which is currently running, the opportunity to win a 1:10 Scale Jim Beam Racing Ford FG Falcon. You will be automatically placed into the draw to win this model worth $2995.00 when you spend $250.00 or more in a single transaction online at www.biante.com.au. This competition is valid from the 18/11/2011 to the 23/01/2012, so make sure you don’t miss out on your chance to win this unique model which is an exclusive limited edition of only 20.

I would like to thank you all for your continued support of this fantastic Australian brand and our hobby. Please remember to stay safe over the holidays, especially on our roads and we look forward to bringing you the best Australian diecast models in 2012.

Yours in collecting,

William HallGeneral ManagerBiante Model Cars

Footnote:

As we go to print with this months newsletter, it is with deep sadness that we hear of Jason Richards passing. As many of you know, my life before Biante was at Brad Jones Racing and my ties to the team have remained very strong. When JR moved to BJR, he brought with him a life and an energy - something he retained right through the terrible illness that finally took him from us. Motorsport is often known for its selfishness and arrogance, these are two traits JR was never known for, in fact right to the end at Homebush little over a fortnight ago, he was still prepared to speak to every single fan that wanted to say hi, even though you could see that his illness was draining him, such was the selflessness of the man. He really was a true gentleman of our sport. He will be deeply missed by all. RIP JR.

NOW

Earlier this year we announced our 1:18 Scale Holden L34 Torana driven by Sir Jack Brabham and Sir Stirling Moss in the 1976 Hardie Ferodo Bathurst 1000. This model was cancelled recently due to the bankruptcy of our major manufacturer and it’s high $300.00 RRP price tag.

We are very pleased to announce that we will now be producing this historic model with Autoart at the revised RRP of $195.00. This model will no longer be coming with a display case, however it will still come with a signed Certificate of Authenticity by both Sir Jack Brabham and Sir Stirling Moss respectively. We believe this new price point will make collectors who previously had this model on pre-order very pleased, saving over $100. Due to the new pricing structure we have cancelled all existing wholesale orders for this item and are calling for new orders. We have also cancelled existing orders for the 1:43 scale version of this model and are calling for new orders for that item also.

Now, for those of you who aren’t familiar with the historical significance of this model, we have included a brief account for your convenience.

On paper, it was a brilliant public relations exercise. Take two former Formula 1 stars, put them together in a Torana for the biggest race of the year at Bathurst and sit back and watch the fans and media lap it up.

That was the case in 1976 as three-time Formula 1 World Champion Jack Brabham, and perhaps the greatest driver never to win the World Championship, Stirling Moss, teamed up together for the Hardie Ferodo 1000. Between them they had a total of 192 Formula 1 Grands Prix starts, 30 F1 GP wins, 29 pole positions and over 400 World Championship points, but neither had raced at Bathurst in a touring car.

It would be Moss’ first race since the terrible accident at Goodwood in 1962 that nearly killed him and coincided with his insurance company terminating its ban on him racing. Having turned 47 a month before the race the big question was whether he and Brabham could match the touring car regulars who were so well versed at competing on slick tyres in big heavy cars on the famous Mount Panorama circuit ever year.

Backing for the venture came from Blues Union, Esmonds Motors and Sydney radio station 2SM but it almost all came unstuck very early in the weekend in practice as Brabham survived a hairy ride down the escape road at the end of Conrod Straight due to total brake failure. He was able to manhandle the out-

of-control L34 Torana, avoiding the back of the similar Craven Mild car of Allan Grice and major damage to stop the car at the end of the wild ride. His practice time of 2m30s neat put the duo 10th on the grid as Allan Moffat’s XB GT Falcon swooped to pole position on 2m25.0s.

When the Australian flag dropped to start the 163-lap marathon, there was instant disaster for Brabham. ‘Black Jack’ was left hurriedly working away at his gear lever, desperate to get the car moving again as the rest of the field streamed away towards Hell’s Corner. With a gearbox that had selected two gears at once, he was a sitting duck and had barely moved an inch when the Triumph Dolomite of John Dellaca which had started 36th on the grid, had nowhere to go and rammed into the back of the stationary Holden.

It was a complete and total disaster, with the damage to the two cars enough for them both to be dragged to the back of the pits by the ARDC recovery crews so repairs could be affected. After so much pre-race hype and build-up, there would be huge efforts go into repairing the Brabham/Moss car to a level to at least get it onto the track and into the race for the fans to see.

In fact, race organisers the ARDC (Australian Racing Drivers Club) waived the rules to allow the car to rejoin the race so the fans could see the two legends at work, however its run was to be short-lived as engine failure meant it only lasted another 37 laps. To top it off, Moss didn’t endear himself to the local racers by driving a full lap back to the pits with smoke and oil pouring from the bowels of the Torana! It may not have been a memorable result, but the 1976 start line incident and ill-fated assault by Brabham and Moss remains one of the most well-known stories in Bathurst 1000 history.

Biante Model Cars are very pleased to be able to present to you our 1:18 Scale Mazda RX7 Limited Edition Plain Body in Red.

This Mazda RX7 has been produced using a 1983 racing spec RX7 as reference. The base model is very similar to what you would have seen racing around Australia in the early to mid 1980s Australian Touring Car Racing scene, and was raced to varying degrees of success by the great Allan Moffat.

Biante have fine tuned our 1:18 Scale RX7 tooling and finishing and the brilliant red colour scheme is nicely complimented by the silver and gold racing wheels. This model also includes all of the fine features you have come to expect from a Biante model including the racing engine bay and interior, fully opening parts, including the rear hatch, detailed undercarriage and fine paint finishing.

This is a fine example of a 1:18 scale plain body model and is an exclusive Limited Edition of only 500 units produced.

LIMITED EDITION PLAIN BODY

The 1984 James Hardie 1000 saw a diverse range of cars entered to tackle the mountain, and the number 30 entry of Tony Kavich and Phil Alexander with their striking Yellow Pages backed RX7, was no exception. This RX7 was one of the best looking cars on the grid, but Kavich & Alexander didn’t set the world on fire in practice, qualifying a distant 43rd. Luck certainly wasn’t on their side during the race either when the car was classed as a non finisher after 117 laps, with the car having gearbox and engine seal issues.

Despite the car not having the best race, it still has the potential to be a real head turner for any collection. Biante have fine tuned our 1:18 Scale RX7 tooling and finishing ensuring the eye catching yellow pages livery was faithfully replicated while incorporating specific features such as the white wheel rims, a different front central intake, replicated white engine bay and aerial.

We are very pleased to show you pre production images of this model and it is an exclusive Limited Edition of only 500 units produced. This model is currently available to order from your local Biante dealer.

In 1983, Allan Moffat took his RX7 to Bathurst with co-driver Yoshimi Katayama for the James Hardie 1000 after finishing 6th the year before. Qualifying didn’t go too badly for the pair, but it could have been better, with the number 43 RX7 sitting 14th on the grid.

The pair ran a better race then the year before though, taking out 2nd place, despite various issues including overcoming a driver door jam during one pitstop which saw the duo scramble through the passenger side door to complete a driver change.

This is another fine addition to the Allan Moffat Collection, with all the features you come to expect from a 1:18 scale Biante RX7.

We are very pleased to show you pre production images of this model and it is an exclusive Limited Edition of only 500 units produced. This model is currently available to order from your local Biante dealer.

Several months ago we announced the 1:18 Scale 1988 Tooheys 1000 BMW M3 driven by Peter Brock and Jim Richards and we are very pleased to present to you the first image of the 1:18 Scale BMW M3 Prototype.

In 1988, Peter Brock did the unthinkable after a very public bust up with Holden, he secured 2 BMW M3’s to run for the season and at Bathurst that year. At Bathurst he was joined by Jim Richards to co-pilot the oddly numbered number 56 car for the race, which didn’t feature the famous 05 number due to FISA regulations.

The race plan for Bathurst was simple against the faster Sierras, Skylines and Commodores, use the BMW’s reliability and endurance to stay competitive and despite starting 16th on the grid, the BMW was raced to 5th place by lap 36 and things were looking good due to the faster cars requiring pit stops for fuel. The race took a turn for the worst however after a racing incident sending the #56 car back to the pits. Brock and Richards took over the back up #57 car, but

their 1988 campaign was eventually ended by an overheating issue. The 1988 Tooheys 1000 was the only time Brock contested the race in a BMW and was ultimately the last time the powerhouse combination of Peter Brock and Jim Richards shared a race car at Mount Panorama.

This model will form part of the Biante Peter Brock Collection and is being produced by Autoart, featuring the lower RRP of $195.00. This model is now available to order from your local Biante Dealer.

On the 12th of September in 1963, Porsche introduced the Type 901 as the successor of the Porsche 356 at the IAA in Frankfurt. Just one year later, with the 901 poised to go into series production, it was presented to the public eye again at the Parisian Autosalon. Peugeot intervened, because they owned the copyright for all three digit model designations with a “0” in the middle. But before Porsche was able to make the amends, production of the Type 901 had already got off the ground on September 14, 1964, and a total of 82 units were delivered by the factory.

All of them carried the type designation “901”. Subsequently, the 901 became the 911, a legendary 3-digit designation that still raises the heartbeat of every sports car enthusiast. Back in the 1950’s, Porsche was rethinking the configuration of car bodies. A final design was developed by his son Ferdinand Alexander. Based on an aesthetics that emphasized clear and simple beauty, he worked out a line management that was fully in tune with the spirit of the 60s. Ferry Porsche was succinct, when he said later: “This type shaped the unique character of all Porsche sports cars.” Even little boys started to dream of owning a 911 in the future. Those who were unable to afford one eventually, had received at least a miniature as a birthday present, and the treasured gift tended to be assigned a place of honour on their rack.

By now the 901, or the subsequent 911, has won an established spot in the sports car Olympus. To those that are still dreaming – and essentially to all model fans – CMC now offers the 901 in a most faithful and gorgeously-crafted replication. It is composed of 971 single parts. Finally the Porsche 901 has a miniature that does justice to its original and unparalleled beauty.
