From the Desk of the Principal
I feel immense pleasure to release inaugural i s s u e o f c o l l e g e n e w s l e t t e r o f Government Engineering College, Bhavnagar. It is a privilege to belong to Bhavnagar which is not only the confluence of culture, art and samskar but also the first princely state to surrender and thereby lying the foundation of Union of India. Founded in 2004 Government Engineering College, Bhavnagar has emerged as the promising and the potential institute imparting quality technical education in Saurashtra region.
We are governed by Commissionerate of Technical Education, Government of Gujarat and affiliated with Gujarat Technological University.
It is rightly said that 'Knowledge is the power' in research driven society of 21st century. Accordingly we are naming our college newsletter 'Tecknovation' as it indicates our sustained efforts and dedication towards developing Technology, knowledge and Innovation. With green and clean campus, we are equipped with resourceful library, advanced laboratories, workshop, sports-ground, Scope language-lab, Centre of Excellence, Hostels and required infrastructure as well as qualified, committed and energetic faculties and experienced administrative staff to realise our vision of making our students good human beings, responsible citizens and employable engineer.
This issue attempts to encapsulate our activities and achievements during April 2019 to March 2020. Along with technological knowledge and innovation, holistic development of our students is our paramount concern and as a result of which not only our students have academically brilliant performance but also have excelled in GTU Youth and Sports festivals. Under the valuable guidance of faculties, organization of TechFest prepares our students for their future managerial role too, along with their technical innovation. We are proud of our students' projects getting selected under SSIP. We are happy to share that our students of different branches have successfully secured the placements in reputed companies in big cities of Gujarat namely Ahmedabad, Rajkot, Surat and Bhavnagar. Our Training and Placement Cell is working hard round the year to provide better and brighter employment prospects to our graduating students. Throughout the year our faculties engage themselves not only in innovative teaching practices but also contributing in seminar presentation and research publication.
I hereby congratulate all the faculties, staff and students for their unique contribution in holistic development of Government Engineering College Bhavnagar. I also convey my best wishes to Tecknovation and hope it will not only document our activities and accomplishment but will also continue to inspire us to attain the new heights in technology, knowledge and innovation for nation building and wellbeing of human society.

From Editors
We are glad to introduce first issue of our biannual college newsletter 'Tecknovation' of Government Engineering College, Bhavnagar. As the name given to it, this newsletter displays the spectrum of our engagement and preoccupation with Technology Knowledge and Innovation at our college.
The aim of this newsletter is to circulate the information about activities and achievements of our college and keep the readers updated about its accomplishment. This introductory issue provides us the glimpse to our academic, research and co-curricular activities during April 2019 to March 2020. It shows the infrastructure, facilities and courses available at the college and also show the academic and research contribution of the faculties. Our students, academic, research and co-curricular achievements indicate the success of teaching-learning process and students' motivation. Several activities are also co-ordinated and managed by students themselves.
Throughout the year our college is throbbing with different academic, technical, research and co- curricular activities and we have tried to accommodate as many as we can considering the space available. We have attempted to categorise them as institutional, students' and faculties' activities and achievements. With our further issues we may broaden our content for this newsletter.
On the occasion of releasing Tecknovation, we are thankful to the students and faculties of all the departments for their valuable contribution in the development of institute and their cooperation for actualizing this release with its flavour and fervour.

and wins several competitions. For the current academic
year 35 students enthusiastically participated in 25 different

FINISHING SCHOOL
Total 160 students successfully completed training of Finishing School of 100 hours in 2019 and 72 students successfully completed training of 40 hours in 2020. Total 401 students from GEC Bhavnagar have been trained under Finishing School, an innovative skill development programme by KCG, Govt. of Gujarat. To achieve excellence is the objective of every institute and industry. Industry and institute are like two faces of coin. The existence of one is totally depend on the existence of other. In order to achieve this objective, Government of Gujarat has sanctioned to establish Siemens Center of Excellence in Ship Building at Government Engineering College, Bhavnagar and Memorandum of Understating has been signed between the Government of Gujarat and Siemens. Prof. S. J. Doshi is the coordinatorof COE.

District Panchayat
Centre of Excellence (CoE) became operational from 1 st March 2016. CoE has established relevant laboratories having Siemens products and Siemens Industry software applications. The equipment's which have been provided by Siemens are of state-of-the-art level. Within the short period Institute's Siemens CoE has completed more than 160 training programs and imparted training to almost 3700 students of GEC Bhavnagar, SSEC Bhavnagar, Sir BPTI Bhavnagar and JNM GP, Amreli.
th Recently 6 Semester Diploma Mechanical students of Sir BPTI Bhavnagar and J N Mehta Government Polytechnic, Amreli has visited
st th institute's siemens CoE on 1 February 2020 and 15 February 2020 respectively. They explored and get insight of Flexible manufacturing system, CNC Technology, Rapid prototype and NX Software. Active participation of students is reected in following snap shots.
