Write a letter asking for advice
a) Sample essay
Dear Aunt ZoeI am a fifteen-year-old girl. I was transferred to a big secondary
school in a city recently. I was in a small rural school before this and I used to have many childhood friends.
My problem is that I find it hard to get along with people now. After one month in the new school, I still do not have any close friends.
Most of the students have different interests and ideas from mine. During group discussions, I often remain silent. I am afraid that others may find my opinions silly. I also fear that I may hurt other people’s feeling if I disagree with them. I feel upset about this problem.
I would like to have more friends and learn from them. Please advise me on how to overcome my shyness and how I can be more confident in group activities.
