A message from DavidBuilding UpdateNick and Alice, architects from Sibling, will present this evening to our community.  The session will be hosted in the senior learning space between 6 and 7pm tonight, and focus on progress to date with some nice visual concepts of what our new junior learning centre will entail.  Parents and local community members are most welcome to attend.  I will host similar briefings in the coming weeks to keep everyone informed of our future plans. Transitioning into PrepWe are in the most fortunate position of having an established kindergarten on site, with incredible staff and resources.  During the next few weeks, our kinder kids will have the opportunity to visit the prep classrooms and engage in a variety of activities that will support the transition from early childhood to the primary school.  This program is exclusive to the families already enrolled at Box Hill North to ensure we are continuing the building of positive relationships and a sense of confidence through familiarity.  Keep an eye out for more information about this program.  Colour RunBox Hill North will be brightened with colour and fun on Monday 10th May.  This event, hosted by our amazing Parents’ Association, will help raise essential funds to contribute to a new basketball tower between the gym and the senior learning building.  Not only will you be able to throw a bit of colour in the air, and perhaps at a few kids, you will soon be able to throw a few more hoops! Superhero Training

This week, Mr Jeffers and I took time to see true superheroes in action.  Well…almost!

Page 4: bhnps.vic.edu.au  · Web view2021. 4. 29. · Calendar Dates. TERM 2(Week 2)Thursday 29th April - Masterplan Community Update 6-7pmFriday 30th April - Parents' Association Meeting

We visited Drew at Fitnessworx – a tailor made program for young students to gain skills and confidence in their fine and gross motor skills – all with a sense of fun and way to become a superhero.  We are looking to introduce this concept at Box Hill North through our Perceptual Motor Program (PMP) for kinder and prep students.  Keep an eye out for more details and there will be plenty of opportunity for parents to be involved in the training of our very own superheroes. Extending the MindBorn to Soar officially launched this week with two programs catering to our P-2 and 3-6 students.  The teachers from Born to Soar were incredibly impressed by the aptitude of learning at Box Hill North and most complementary about the way students readily engaged in complex learning tasks.  Born to Soar will run each Wednesday and Thursday for those who have opted into the program for 8 weeks each term.  For more information, please contact founding member, Angus, on 0447 036 807.  There are limited places available and while students at Box Hill North have been offered priority enrolment, it is now open to other schools.

Local TalentOur very own, Mel Hoffman, officially launched her first published book this week and is well worth a read.  ‘In Full Credit to the Boys, Mel charts the highs and lows of life on the sidelines of a professional sport career. Hilarious, biting and unabashed, it's a story for sports lovers and haters alike, an insider's look at a life dedicated to the games that sit at the heart of Australian culture.’ Congratulations to Mel and the Hoffman Family who make a formidable team and great role models for our community.
