DIGITAL INDIA WEEK (01-07-2015 to 07-07-15)

Activities of NCR Project Monitoring Unit, North Zone, BBNL

Various events were organised by BBNL to celebrate Digital India Week from 1st July 2015 to 7th July 2015 in Tigaon and Dayalpur Gram Panchayats of Faridabad, Haryana.

The BBNL team comprising of Sr.GM (Project NCR) Mr. Avinash Agarwal and consultants Mr. S.K. Dabral and Mr. P.C.R. Patel conducted the events with support from State Government officials, BSNL, Nayab Tehsildar of Tigaon Mr. Mohan Lal and Dayalpur Primary Health Centre (PHC) in-charge Dr. Jitendra. The team also got help from local Common Service Centres (CSCs) and Village Level Entrepreneurs (VLEs).

During the week, more than 750 villagers including 150 school children attended the various events.

Day 2 (02-07-15): General activities

Pamphlets were distributed; people were informed about BharatNet Project and BBNL. Video conferencing was held with senior officers at BBNL CO, hands-on experience of internet was provided and quizzes were conducted.

Day 3 (3-07-15): e-Governance

CSCs were associated at Tigaon and Dayalpur to demonstrate various e-governance services such as registration for Aadhaar card, digital locker, ration card, birth certificate, death certificate, caste certificate, etc.

Day 4 (04-07-15): e-Education

Village elders, school teachers and students were informed about BharatNet and BBNL network. There was Video Conferencing with BBNL CO. Uses of internet were discussed. Quiz was conducted and videos on Swatchh Bharat Mission & DIW opening ceremony were played.

Day 5 (05-07-15): e-Health

Talk by Dr. (Mrs) Surinder Katoch, Ayurveda physician and Yoga expert followed by talk by Dr. Sameer Parikh, Director of Dept. of Mental Health Programme, Fortis Health Care Gurgaon from BBNL Corporate Office New Delhi. Dayalpur and various other locations were connected to the experts through video conferencing.

The doctors of Dayalpur PHC were among the audience and their queries were addressed by the experts available in BBNL CO New Delhi.

The role of internet in rural healthcare was also experienced through this event.

Day 6 (06-07-15): e-Commerce:

An exhibition was held in Syndicate Bank, the only bank in Dayalpur. Internet banking, online shopping and online transactions for utilities such as railway bookings, electricity bill payments, etc. were demonstrated to the bank staff and villagers.

Day 7 (07-07-15): e-Agriculture

Benefits of internet in day to day agricultural activities were informed to farmers. Websites related to e-agriculture were demonstrated.
