NEPALA landlocked country between China and India, Nepal spans 12 hundred kilometers East to West and a maximum of 250 kilometers North to South. Home to 8 of the 10 tallest mountains including the highest point on Earth, Mt. Everest or ‘Sagarmatha’ as called locally which literally means ‘goddess of the skies’.

Plagued by economic and social inequality, political instability and lack of infrastructure and sustainable livelihood, a large number of Nepalese live under poverty, about 30% live with less than a dollar a day. Poverty on one hand and unsuccessful experiments of political systems on the other has added to unsatisfactory results in the field of development, health and education. Nepal’s development is at snail’s pace (less than 4% of GDP).

Later it was expanded to include Kathmandu Elites Round Table No. 2. Round Table Nepal has sparked a new vigor amongst the professionals to serve the nation through the fulfillment of social responsibility, ensuring resources from within and outside to be spent for the public welfare programmes. Shri Ganesh Prathamik Vidhyalaya, Sankhu.

Pranil comes from a family of 6 children. Only he and his elder sister go regularly to school. Two of his sisters have never been to school. Two of his brothers go to school irregularly and also have to earn their livelihood working in the fields.

Like most of his school mates, Pranil is the first generation from his community to have got the opportunity to go to school.

Patan Bal Vinod Secondary School, Lalitpur.

75% Children of the Patan Bal Vinod Seconday School, are domestic helpers. Their parents are too poor to feed and educate them. So they are brought to different homes in Kathmandu, where they help in the household chores as a payment for which they get to eat and stay. They attend free schools to study.

Without education the option for children like these is to enter footsteps of their parents, a cycle of poverty & hardship.

With education, freedom...to choose from a life full of opportunities.

You have a choice today, to be either a silentspectator and helplessly watch their situation or to do something about it..to take that first step that will help children to get their freedom, to lift them above a life without hope.

Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach him to fish and you feed him for a lifetime.

You can do your part by taking a simple step. Any help is welcome. Read more on the next page on how you can do your bit.

0% Overhead The uniqueness of Round Table projects comes from the fact that all projects have 0% Administrative Costs, i.e. 100% of the Project Fund of Round Table Nepal goes into the Project and no part of it is ever used to pay for administrative expenses like travelling costs of the Table members, inauguration costs, etc. Unlike many NGOs in which much of the financial assistance that comes for the people is evaporated in the form of consultancies and operating five-star offices, Round Table ensures that the entire financial package goes into the project.
