Dear Friends,

It gives us great pleasure to present the 2010-2011 annual report for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Scottsdale highlighting the important accomplishments achieved through the areas of youth development programs, facilities, operations and fundraising.

The fundamental needs of our youth remain a top priority at our organization. We pride ourselves in offering quality, life enhancing youth development programs to nearly 16,000 children and teens throughout the communities we serve. Our success is a true testament to the resilience and compassion of our staff, volunteers, parents and donors who work together to create a positive place, full of hope and new opportunities for our youth.

This level of excellence could not be met without the support and generosity of concerned individuals, corporations, and organizations who help to enrich the lives of our youth. Without their support we would not be the premier youth development organization that we are today.

On behalf of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Scottsdale, thank you again for your support.

DAVID COHENChairman of the Board

STEVE DAVIDSONPresident & CEO

BE GREAT: Graduate (Serves 100 Youth Annually)This national program’s goal is academic success, on-time grade progression and ultimately high school graduation. Angels for Kids is the annual giving campaign for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Scottsdale. The campaign’s theme reflects the strong and valuable mentoring our youth receive from trained staff and dedicated volunteers. This year, a total of 505 donors gave to the Angels for Kids campaign – 282 donors were first time investors with the organization.

OLGA FERNANDEZ 2011 Youth of the Year and State of Arizona Youth of the Year

Olga Fernandez, a 10-year member of the Rose Lane Branch, was named the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Scottsdale’s 2011 Youth of the Year. Olga was also selected out of approximately 20 candidates as the Boys & Girls Clubs Arizona State Youth of the Year.

During her tenure at the Club, Olga was involved in a variety of educational and community service programs. She credits Club technology programs, such as Techathlon and Club Tech, for her academic success at Saguaro High School, where she maintained a 4.1 GPA. She is now a part time staff member at the Rose Lane Branch and attends Arizona State University’s Barrett Honors College where she is pursuing a career in Speech and Language Sciences.

“It’s been an outstanding year for me and I feel privileged to have won the Youth of the Year title as well as the Arizona State Youth of the Year,” says Olga. “The Boys & Girls Clubs came into my life for a reason. If it weren’t for them I can honestly say, I’d still be a misinterpreted, vulnerable seven-year old that struggled to fit in. I hope to continue in a career where I can make a difference in people’s lives – just as the Clubs did for me.”

Lehi Branch Recently had the largest number of individual Club members perform a Native

American dance at the Boys & Girls Clubs of America’s national conference.
