STATEMENT OF FAITH . . . The Apostles’ Creed We believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord; Who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead and buried; the third day He arose from the dead, He ascended into heaven and sits on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from there He shall come to judge the living and the dead. We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Church Universal, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body and the life everlasting.

The Mission of the African Methodist Episcopal (A.M.E.) Church is to minister to the spiritual, intellectual, physical,
emotional and environmental needs of all people by spreading Christ’s liberating gospel through word and deed. At every level of the connection and in every local church, the African Methodist Episcopal Church shall engage in carrying out the
spirit of the original Free African Society, out of which the A.M.E. Church evolved: that is, to seek out and save the lost, and
serve the needy through a continuing program of (1) preaching the gospel, (2) feeding the hungry, (3) clothing the naked, (4)
housing the homeless, (5) cheering the fallen, (6) providing jobs for the jobless, (7) administering to the needs of those in prison, hospitals, nursing homes, asylums and mental institutions, senior citizens’ homes; caring for the sick, the shut-in, the
mentally and socially disturbed, and (8) encouraging thrift and economic advancement.

OPENING SONG “Not Forgotten” Israel Houghton
I am not forgotten. I am not forgotten. I am not forgotten. God knows my name.
I am not forgotten. I am not forgotten. I am not forgotten. God knows my name.
He knows my name.
Light over darkness. Strength over weakness.
Joy over sadness. He knows my name.
Father to the fatherless. Friend to the friendless.
Hope for the hopeless. He knows my name.
I will praise You. I will praise You.
I will praise You for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.
I am not forgotten; never forsaken. Oh!
THE PRAYER THE CHORAL RESPONSE Bethel B.A.S.I.C. Gospel Choir
“Awesome” Charles Jenkins
My God is awesome. He can move mountains.
Keep me in the valley, hide me from the rain.
My God is awesome—heals me when I’m broken
Strength where I’ve been weakened. Forever He will reign.
My God is awesome! Awesome, awesome, awesome
My God is awesome; Savior of the whole world,
Giver of salvation. By His stripes I am healed
My God is awesome; today I am forgiven.
His grace is why I’m living. Praise His holy name.
THE GENERAL CONFESSION Almighty God, Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, Maker of all things, Judge of all men,
we acknowledge and bewail our manifold sins and wickedness which we from time to
time most grievously have committed by thought, word and deed against Your divine
Majesty, provoking most justly Your wrath and indignation against us. We do earnestly
repent and are heartily sorry for these our misdoings; the remembrance of them is
grievous unto us. Have mercy upon us, have mercy upon us, most merciful Father for Your Son our Lord Jesus Christ’s sake; forgive us all that is past and grant that we may ever
hereafter serve and please You in newness of life, to the honor and glory of Your name,
through Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen

THE SCRIPTURE John 17:1-11 New Revised Standard Edition 1 After Jesus had spoken these words, he looked up to heaven and said,
"Father, the hour has come; glorify your Son so that the Son may glorify you, . 2 since you have given him authority over all people, to give eternal life to all whom
you have given him. . 3 And this is eternal life, that they may know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ
whom you have sent. . 4 I glorified you on earth by finishing the work that you gave me to do. . 5 So now, Father, glorify me in your own presence with the glory that I had in your pres-
ence before the world existed. , 6 "I have made your name known to those whom you gave me from the world.
They were yours, and you gave them to me, and they have kept your word. . 7 Now they know that everything you have given me is from you; . 8 for the words that you gave to me I have given to them, and they have received them
and know in truth that I came from you; and they have believed that you sent me. l 9 I am asking on their behalf; I am not asking on behalf of the world, but on behalf of
those whom you gave me, because they are yours. . 10 All mine are yours, and yours are mine; and I have been glorified in them. . 11 And now I am no longer in the world, but they are in the world, and I am coming to
you. Holy Father, protect them in your name that you have given me, so that they may
be one, as we are one. .
