Expressions of interest are sought from suitably qualified and experienced teachers to apply for the position of Sports Coordination Officer. The Sports Coordination Officer will be employed 5 days per week for the remainder of Term 1 beginning on Monday 27 February 2017 until Friday 7 April 2017. The Sports Coordination Officer is responsible for coordinating sports activities and events as part of the representative school sport pathway and facilitating professional support to teachers and schools. The role requires high level organisation, communication and administration skills and the provision and facilitation of professional support for teachers and schools. The role also requires management of and support for representative school sport associations, teams and officials and management of appropriate financial procedures. The position is based on administrative hours, but may involve some weekend and evening work. The role requires the successful candidate to hold a current drivers licence and have the ability to engage in travel between work sites. Sports Coordination OfficerStatement of Duties

Organising and coordinating representative school sport and state carnivals and assisting the organisation of national carnivals as appropriate.

Providing and facilitating professional support for teachers and schools.

Assisting in the implementation of major Government initiatives relating to sport.

Providing executive support to representative school sport associations including managing the representative teams and team officials.

Managing the School Swimming and Water Safety program where appropriate.

Preparing sport calendars and publications.

Maintaining appropriate financial procedures for the conduct of representative school sport programs.

Drafting Ministerial responses and correspondence.

Selection Criteria

Teaching qualifications and recent school based experience within the K-12 range.

Demonstrated commitment to participating in accreditation processes.

Demonstrated knowledge of curriculum content and understanding of current trends in teaching, learning and student wellbeing.

High level written and oral communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to maintain accurate and comprehensive written records.

Demonstrated capacity to work collaboratively and liaise and negotiate with key stakeholders.

Capacity to innovate, problem solve and develop creative solutions to emerging issues.

Proven successful experience in the planning, design, development, budgeting and evaluation of quality programs.

Experience in the use of systems to analyse, record, manipulate, store and retrieve data.

Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policies.
