Science Teacher Interview Reflection

I really enjoyed interviewing my mentor teacher. Although she teaches all subjects (except Math) I learned Science is her strong subject. She teaches Science twice a day to two classes. From her I have already learned many ways to make Science interesting and fun for students, even when not doing inquiry based work.

Science Teacher Interview

Interviewer: Darricka Purnell

Interviewee: Ms. E. Grove

School: Northview Elementary

Position: 4th Grade Teacher

Interview:

How many years have you been teaching? What helps keep you interested and dedicated in

your profession?

I have been teaching for years and I love every bit of it! Seeing my student’s

reaction keeps me interested. They are my motivation, knowing the positive impact I have

on their lives makes me more eager to teach. To assure that I am resourceful I utilize a

number of teaching styles and strategies so I can adapt to the different types of learners.

How do you feel about teaching science?

I love teaching science. In fact I am currently attending Graduate school to receive a

Masters in Science. I prefer to teach science over any other subjects although some of my

colleagues find it strange. They feel other subjects are much easier to teach. Science

requires a lot more preparation, considering lab preparation, clean up, and notes. But, it is

all worth it.

How does the district support you?

ReflectionsThis activity was

interesting. Since we were able to use the topic we did our Bulletin Board on, I was already very knowledgeable about the topic.

In opinion, Track Stars are a very good way to incorporate technology in the classroom. I believe students would prefer to complete an assignment such as this rather than a worksheet.

ReflectionOf all the assignments

we completed this was by far my favorite! I enjoyed doing a Science Project because it was very hands on and I got to make a prediction and actually conduct an experiment to see if my prediction was correct.
