Congratulations to the following individuals, who won Shell gas cards for participating in our annual Best of

the Roanoke Valley ballots!

$100 Winner - David Lucy $50 Winner - Cecelia Weeks

$25 Winner - Melonie & Steven Hammack

Thanks to all of your that took the time to fill out a ballot and return it. The turn out was great again this year!

Take a moment to look through the section and see if any of your favorites won first, second or third place.

In August we started asking youto tell us whom your favorites are in71 categories.

The Daily Herald does the annualReader’s Choice Awards to givereaders a chance to give local busi-nesses kudos — such input includesfood and beverage, automotive op-tions, multiple services, best profes-sionals, educators, shopping andtop brags in the Roanoke Valley.

The annual reader poll also al-lows for recognition of Valley edu-cators — teacher, principal andcoach.

This year, the ballot grew by morethan 10 categories. The Daily Her-ald news staff — Della Batts, TiaBedwell, Roger Bell, JacquelineHough, Mark Matthews, JonasPope IV and Stephen Hemelt — con-tributed the write ups and photo-graphs highlighting the first placewinners.

Those participants who filled outatleast 50 categories had a chance towin a prize — a gas card from NewDixie Oil Corp.

The $100 card winner is DavidLucy, of Roanoke Rapids, the $50winner is Cecelia Weeks, ofRoanoke Rapids, and Melonie andSteven Hammack, of RoanokeRapids, won $25.

Congratulations to the winners! The bottom line is we all need

each other at some point during theday, month or year, and folks shouldlet others know when they are ap-preciated — and that is the mainreason for our annual reader’schoice awards.

Without further ado ... the results.Kris Smith, news editor
