TRANSCRIPT

Hi gals!! We spent months of testing, researching, and writing about epilators, including trying out over 20 of them. Inaddition to me personally testing each one myself, we consulted beauty bloggers and formed our own testing panel. Afterour extensive testing, we highly recommend the Braun Silk 9.

It’s hard to argue with our pick. It’s pricey. However, it offers the perfect mix of professional features and performance alongwith critical acclaim in the beauty community. It left our skin smoother than any other epilator we tested, picking up shorterand flat lying hair that other epilators just seemed to miss.

There are several different epilators in this line but their performance is essentially the same. The difference between themodels really has to do with the extra attachments. We’ll talk about the differences a little later.

Braun Silk Epil

With a 40% wider head, this is the best epilator that we tested. Compared to the other epilators Itested, I found that the Braun 9 was able to pick up the most hairs, leaving me a lot smoother than anyother epilator. It seemed to pick up even the smallest hairs and flat hairs that other epilators wouldmiss.

While it is missing some of the added body attachments on the Braun 7681, performance is identicalto other models in the Braun Silk 7 line. The unique thing about this epilator is that it comes with anbody exfoliating brush to prevent ingrown hair.

Like its big brother the Braun 7681, this performs just as well but is missing some of the superficialattachments found on the Braun 7681. It is the base model in the Silk Epil 7 line. Choose this model ifyou are only going to epilate your legs or are experienced in epilation.

Philips SatinPerfect HP6576

83% 32 80dB 40 min

This is an absolute beast of a machine. This epilator is much more powerful than the Braun Silk 7epilator. On the legs, this was the fastest performing model. It’s the only model with ceramic tweezers, but we didn’t find it anymore gentle on the skin. The Philips HP6576 has an extra wide head that allowsit to remove more hair in one stroke than any other epilator I have tested. The one area where theBraun Silk Epil 7 performed better was on the curvier parts of the body especially with shorter hair.

Panasonic ES-

WD90-P

81% 48 67dB 40 min

Recommended for beginners. The best epilator for sensitive skin. This epilator left the skin the leastirritated. While the Panasonic ES-WD90-P seemed to pluck less hair per pass than the Braun Silk Epil 9,I found it gentler on the skin. While it takes longer than the Braun Silk Epil 9 and won’t get the shortesthairs, it is a bit more comfortable. By no means is it painless, but it is the least painful epilator wetested. The attachable foot file works great for sanding the heels.

Braun Silk Epil

While it is a corded model, the Braun Silk Epil 5 performed almost as well as the Braun Silk Epil 7. I didfind that the Braun Silk 7 was less loud and a little gentler on the skin especially under water. For themost part the design is identical. It features all of the exact same attachments as the Braun 7681. Sinceit requires a cord, the performance never dips unlike the cordless models. The big difference is thatthis epilator must be plugged in and can’t be used under water.

While it is super loud, with the most tweezers on an epilator, 72 tweezers, the Emjoi Ap-18 Emagineplows through hair like a lawn mower. I was able to clear large areas with hair very quickly comparedto the Braun 7681. However, I thought the Braun 7681 did a more thorough job of removing fine hairand hair on curvier areas.

If you don’t want to spend a lot and want a good quality epilator, the Philips HP6401 Satinelle Epilatoris a great value. This epilator worked well, but I found that it took a long time to clear hair and I had tomake 4-5 passes over each area to obtain the result I wanted. It can have trouble with smaller hair.Still, for basic epilation on the legs, I think it works pretty well.

SUMMARYThe Braun Silk 9 works extremely well inremoving unwanted hair. Compared tosimilar epilators, it removes hair with thefewest amount of extra passes. While itdoesn’t live up to Braun’s ‘grain of sand’claim, it does remove some of the finest andsmallest hairs that waxing and otherepilators seem to miss.

What Our Tester Thought

At 70 decibels, this epilator is not too loud though it makes a grinding sound. I first tested the Braun 9 with the massagingcap because Braun claims that this cap helps to reduce the discomfort. When you put it on your skin it causes a vibratingsensation on the skin. It feels funny. I found the vibration may help reduce the amount of pain just a slight bit. It’s nothingdramatic but it’s a good way to allow your skin to get accustomed to the epilator.

Compared to the other epilators I tested, I found that the Braun was able to pick up most of the hairs with the fairly quicklywithout me having to go back over the area too many times.

I felt that the Braun 9 left me a lot smoother than any other epilator. Itseemed to pick up even the smallest hairs that other epilators would miss.

I felt that the Braun 9 left me a lot smoother than any other epilator. It seemed to pick up even the smallest hairs that otherepilators would miss. This was especially true on the curvier parts of my body. A nice advantage of this epilator is you don’thave to wait long between sessions for the hair to grow longer. Still, I recommend waiting a week or two between sessions sothat the epilator can fully grasp the hair without breaking it.

It’s not going to get stubble but I was impressed by how short the hairs couldbe.

If you missed a hair, it is probably because you approached it from the wrong direction. Usually in that case you can trylooking at the way the hair is growing using the built in light and approach it from the exact opposite direction which allowsfor clean extraction of the hair. You can also use circular motions for faster results but I find approaching from the oppositedirection ensures hairs are plucked clean. It even seemed to pick up finer hairs but sometimes you have to lift them a bit withthe little comb on the end of the cap. It’s not going to get stubble but I was impressed by how short the hairs could be. Youcan also take off the cap to pick up shorter hair, but this is not advisable unless you are pretty experienced with epilation. In

fact, Braun warns against this, but I had to try it anyway.

One area where the Braun 9 excelled over the competitors was trickier areasthat are curved such as the knees.

One area where the Braun 9 excelled over the competitors was trickier areas that are curved such as the knees. The reasonfor this is because both of the included caps with this epilator pivot with the skin, allowing the Braun epilator to grab the hairthat other epilators would miss. I wish more epilators included this feature.

Unlike other epilators I’ve looked at, if you put the Braun 9 in an area with hair, it does exactly what you expect it to do – pluckhair out. With other epilators, it can be trial and error.

For most areas, I preferred to just use the efficiency cap and pull the skin tight to ensure no snagging of the skin occurs.

The only downside to the Braun 9 is really the battery. You have to charge itbefore you use it.

The only downside to the Braun 9 is really the battery. You have to charge it before you use it. When you first start epilating, with only 40 minutes of usage, it is easy to run out of charge. When you first epilate your legs, it can take 2-3 sessions. However, as you become more proficient and your skin adjusts to the plucking sensation, you can touch up both of your legsin under 20 minutes.

Why Braun 9 ?

Braun is known for their high-quality hair removal devices that are German-engineered. Currently, it is the best-sellingepilator brand in the world with over 18 million women choosing the Braun Silk Epil line.

The Braun Silk-Epil Xpressive 9 is our highest reviewed personal epilator.Wereally like all the features that Braun has packed into this model.

The Braun Silk-Epil Xpressive 9 is our highest reviewed personal epilator. We really like all the features that Braun has packedinto this model. Based on our research, we found that this epilator was very effective on both wet and dry skin. It achievesgreat results without having to make many passes. Though the ideal length for epilation is after 1 or 2 days of shaving atabout 2 – 3 mm, Braun claims that its micro-grip technology will grab hair as short as a grain of sand at 0.5 mm. It does seemto be able to pick up the shortest hairs.

We love the handy smart light which makes spotting fine hairs easier. For some people the massaging head will help ease thepain. The vibrations produced are designed to distract the nerve endings in the skin from the pain. This model is a cordlessrechargeable model which means you don’t have to be tied to an electrical outlet. It is a convenient wet and dry model, whichmeans it’s waterproof and you can even take it in the bath or shower.

Noise Level

Epilators are pretty loud. When you first turn on the Braun 7681, it can be loud.

What Makes It Great?

One of the features that women like to have on an epilator is the ability to hop in the shower with it. The Silk-epil 9 can beconveniently used either wet or dry. Some women find it less painful to use in the shower. However, some people say that itis not as effective in the shower since hair tends to be stickier in the shower. It is also easier to see hair when it is dry. Still, many women might like to have this feature because you can clean it under water.

One of the features that women like to have on an epilator is the ability tohop in the shower with it. The Silk-epil 9 can be conveniently used either wetor dry.

The Braun Silk-epil 9 is a fully cordless model. The Braun takes about 1 hour to fully charge and that provides about 40minutes of useage. Braun recommends that you charge it with every usage. For safety reasons, you can’t use it while it isplugged in.

The Silk Epil 9 has 40 mini tweezers. It’s not the most ever on an epilator, but Braun claims that this epilator can grab eventhe tiniest hairs.

To turn on the device, you spin the dial in the center in a clockwise direction between the two settings. Setting 1 on the speeddial is for gentle epilation. Speed setting 2 is for efficient epilating.

Ultimately, we picked the Braun 9 model because the price differencebetween the different models is small. Currently, it is the most popularBraun model.

When you switch the device on, the smartlight turns on. It provides a really bright almost daylight effect that lets you see anystray hair that you missed.

The device has nice grips on the back and it fits into the hand well. The pivoting head can pivot up to 15 degrees which allowsit to hug the contours of the skin. This means that the Braun won’t have as much trouble around the bony areas of the bodysuch as the knees.

What We Don’t Like

It’s pricey. You can’t use it while it is plugged in for safety reasons. The battery must be charged to use it.

We were interested in how long the battery life would last with regular usage. When we contacted Braun, it informed us thatthe battery is designed to last for 7 years.

converted by Web2PDFConvert.com

Here is what Braun told us. To maximize the battery life, be sure to fully charge the battery the first time you use the product.Once the unit is fully charged, do not leave the unit plugged in. Only charge the battery once the red low battery life indicatorcharge light comes on. Use the product frequently and never store the unit with no charge. The instructions do warn thatusing under water can reduce operation time.

Pain

Only the best epilator ever would be truly painless. Unfortunately, that epilator hasn’t been invented yet. The first time it isnormal to experience redness and soreness. Because the Braun 9 is very effective at removing hair, it can be painful at first.Although Braun has included a number of bells and whistles to make epilation less painful like the epilation wipes and amassaging head, it is still going to hurt initially. Don’t let anyone tell you this is going to be pain-free.

Braun claims that the sonic massage system on this epilator helps minimize the amount of pain you feel. It only does so everso slightly. Ripping out hairs from the root is going to hurt. The amount of pain you experience depends on your hair type. The first time is the worst. You have to persevere, because it does get better the more you use it.

Coarser hair tends to hurt more. For most women the pain is manageable with leg hair, but there is a lot more pain whenepilating in the underarm, bikini, and facial areas.

Who Else Likes The Braun Silk 9?

Both beauty bloggers and customers alike have good things to say about the Braun 9 and most find it to be one of the best-performing epilators.

On Amazon, the Braun 9 is one of the best rated epilators, scoring an average 4.5 out of 5 with a total of over 100 reviews.

Braun Silk 7

Before we proceed, we want to clearly explain the differences between the models so you can decide on the right model foryour needs. Admittedly, it can be a little confusing with all the different model numbers in the Silk Epil 7 line.

The base model is the Braun 7181. This model has no additional attachments beyond the includedmassaging and efficiency cap. Most women only use epilators on their legs. Choose this model if youare only going to epilate your legs.

The base model is the Braun 7181. Choose this model if you are only going toepilate your legs.

Stepping up to the Braun 7681, you get additional accessories, including a shaver head, trimmer cap, underarm cap, andfacial cap. While most women find the additional accessories a bit overkill, you might decide that you want to try out theadditional accessories on different areas of your body. One of the drawbacks of this model is that the additional caps are notseparate heads. They simply cover a portion of the tweezers.

Braun SE7921 Epilator

If you don’t need all the attachments, you might want to consider the newest model in the line – theBraun Se7921. It combines two beauty products in one – epilation and exfoliation. The unique thingabout this epilator is that it comes with an exfoliating brush to prevent ingrown hair. When you areepilating probably the most important thing for great results is to exfoliate before and after epilating.

If you don’t need all the attachments, you might want toconsider the newest model in the line – the Braun Se7921. Theunique thing about this epilator is it comes with an exfoliatingbrush to prevent ingrown hair.

Now Braun is making this easier than ever, delivering professional spa quality exfoliation in a consumer device. The BraunSE7921 is one of the best epilators to prevent against ingrown hairs. The brush moves, delivering over 3000 microvibrationsper minute, moving at the speed of sound. Braun says it is 4 times more efficient than manually exfoliating.

There is a lot of buzz around Braun’s latest epilator, the Braun 7921. The new face of the Braun 7921 is song writer, SofieWinterson. Her gorgeous face, legs, and skin are on display in the new commercial for the Braun Skin Spa Epilator 7921.

Aesthetician Abi Aksoy said the new Braun combines the power of professional exfoliation and epilation. She states that it isthe only product of its kind.

A leading Dermatologist, Dr. Benedetta Brazzini, added that regular exfoliation not only results in smoother glowing skin butalso helps prevent ingrown hair. She loved the new Braun epilator because you can achieve comparable results to a beautysalon.

We first heard about the Braun Se7921 when beauty blogger, Huda Heidi Kattan, took to YouTube declaring that she is ableto achieve celebrity legs with this model. A little embarrassed, she admitted to her readers that she is “super hairy”. One ofthe reasons she loves Braun epilators is because they can be used in the shower. She loved the fact that this particularepilator could be used under water and has a pivoting head that adjusts to the contours of your body. However, what sheloved most about it is the interchangeable spa exfoliating head, claiming it’s gentle and improves circulation. She is amazed itleft her skin feeling super soft. Huda immediately noticed the difference in her skin on areas she used the exfoliating head. She said that the best way to describe it is that skin looks cleaner and smoother.

Customers who have used it also think it works well, awarding it 4 stars on Amazon with a total of over 100 reviews.

What Our Tester Thought

At first I wasn’t too impressed by the exfoliating spa brush, which I was excited to try. When you turn it on it vibrates back andforth really fast. While it looks like a Clarisonic brush, it can’t be used on the face. I felt I got the best results when I poured alittle body scrub on it. My skin was left very smooth and I thought it could be helpful for preventing ingrowns if usedfrequently. I found it very calming to use on my skin after epilating to ease the tingly itchiness you usually get.

I was slightly disappointed that the actual epilator only comes with the massaging cap and nothing else. It doesn’t include thefacial, sensitive area cap, efficiency cap, or shaver head of the Braun 7681. I wish it had the efficiency cap of the Braun 7861and it would be my go to epilator. I found with that cap I was able to pick up shorter hair and epilate faster. It’s not a dealbreaker. With this epilator, you just have to wait till hair grows out a bit longer before you can pluck it.

The Competition

The previous Braun epilators aren’t as highly reviewed as the Series 7 models. What about epilators from other companies?

Philips HP6576 Satin Perfect

converted by Web2PDFConvert.com

Promoted by Victoria secret model, Alessandra Ambrosio, the Philips Satin Perfect epilator is the onlyepilator with ceramic tweezers. It’s Philips top of the line model. Although it contains 32 tweezers, it isthe most powerful cordless epilator we have tested reaching 81,600 tweezes per second. Combinedwith its raw power, the extra wide head allows it to remove more hair per pass than any other epilatorwe have tested. This model includes various epilation caps for beginners and experts depending onyour experience. It comes with all the bells and whistles and includes a brush, shaver, built in light, traveling case, and even a pair of illuminated tweezers.

I was shocked by how powerful the Philips HP 6576 was.

What Our Tester Thought

I was so excited to try out the Philips Satin Perfect because it is used and promoted by Victoria Secret model, AlessandraAmbrosio. It’s the only epilator with ceramic tweezers, which means that the tweezers are less likely to go blunt over time.

When I first turned on the Philips HP6576, I was shocked by how powerful it was. Holy lord! This thing is super loud. At 80decibels, it sounds like a small blender. Honestly, I first tried the epilator on no skin to work up the courage to use it.However, after trying it I have to say its performance far exceeds the Braun 7681. I could epilate hair much quicker andeffortlessly.

If you run out of juice in the middle you can just plug it in and continueepilating.

It is cordless, but since this is not a wet and dry epilator, if you run out of juice in the middle you can just plug it in andcontinue epilating. Unlike the Braun 7681, you can take as much time as you need. I like that. The amazing thing is even withall this power the battery lasts a good 40 minutes just like the Braun 7681.

In fact, I first tried the Philips HP6576 on the highest speed and felt it was too fast. Hair was flying everywhere. I had to switchto the slower setting to ensure the epilator was plucking out the hair properly. The one thing I completely hated about thisepilator is that both speed settings are mapped to one button. You have to cycle through the speeds and to turn it off andon. So annoying!

The Philips HP6576 has an extra wide head that allows it to remove more hair in one stroke than any other epilator I havetested. It has 32 tweezers. Even though it has less tweezers than the Emjoi Emagine, it removes hair just as fast if not fasterwith a lot more precision. Like the Braun 7681, it picks up most of the hair on the first pass.

Given its power, please do not put this epilator anywhere near your face. It’s marketed for the face and body because it doescome with a cool separate pair of tweezers that light up, which can be used for plucking eyebrow hair.

The one area where this epilator struggled was on the curvier parts of thebody especially with shorter hair.

The one area where this epilator struggled was on the curvier parts of the body especially with shorter hair. It’s hard toepilate the underarms and knees with this epilator because the wide head gets in the way. I felt that the Braun was a little bitmore thorough with removing smaller hairs on the curved parts of my body. With this one you have to let them grow out abit more.

The active hair lifter is probably my all time favorite attachment on anyepilator.

converted by Web2PDFConvert.com

It comes with a bunch of attachments that are helpful for beginners. My favorite attachment was the active hair lifter. Theactive hair lifter is probably my all time favorite attachment on any epilator. This cap has a comb on one side that lifts hairperpendicular into the epilator. It’s great for flat lying hair on the legs. Because it has a massager on the other end of the cap,it was slightly more comfortable to remove hair with this cap than with the Braun 7681. I found it easier to clear a lot of hairat a time with this cap.

Compared to the Braun 7681, with the Philips HP 6576, you do need to let your hair grow out a bit longer for the epilator tocatch the hair. I found a little less than a 1/4 of an inch (3-4 mm) works the best. It does include a trimmer to trim hair to theideal length.

What we don’t like:It’s pricey. At 80 decibels, this is the loudest epilator we have tested. Strangely, Philips has decided to map both speedsettings to one button. We found sometimes the extra wide head could get in the way, making it trickier to remove short hairof the curved parts of the body.

Panasonic ES-WD90-P

Panasonic epilators give Braun epilators a serious run for their money. They make some of the bestepilators available. Panasonic has just released a new model that might be better than Braun’s best.We found both Panasonic epilators we looked at to be slightly less painful than the Braun 7681. Don’texpect this to be pain-free – this epilator is the least painful. Although it has 48 tweezers, with eachpass it seems to pluck out less hair. The Braun was a little more effective at pulling out hairs. You haveto make more passes over the same area with the Panasonic. Just like the Braun 7681, we like that thisepilator can be used on dry skin and in the shower.

We found both the Panasonic epilators to be slightly less painful than theBraun 7681

The Panasonic includes both a beginners and gentle cap, which both seem to reduce pain unlike the Braun 7681. Like theBraun 7681, you get 6 attachments. However, unlike the Braun, Panasonic has included a separate head for sensitive areas. On the Braun 7681, you just get a cap that covers the tweezers. The new Panasonic even includes a foot buffer whichcustomers are ecstatic about. We think if you want the best epilator for the whole body, the Panasonic ES-WD90-P and Braun7681 are both great options.

What Our Tester Thought

Though not painless, I think this Panasonic epilator is easily the mostcomfortable epilator I have ever tried. I think this model is great forbeginners.

Wow this epilator includes so many attachments. It’s like a complete beauty device. The foot file is completely amazing. I wishit was every epilator. What about the epilator? Though not painless, I think this Panasonic epilator is easily the mostcomfortable epilator I have ever tried. I think this model is great for beginners. At 67 decibels, it is also the quietest epilator. However, I found many of the attachments useful for first timer users.

Although the performance is essentially the same as the previous Panasonic epilator, the Panasonic ES-WD51-P, there are acouple improvements that I loved on this model. This model has a built in light that let’s you see fine hairs that you missed.Because of this feature, I felt like I was able to get a lot smoother than the previous Panasonic ES-WD51-P epilator. I also likethat Panasonic has also included two speed settings on this model. The controls are very user friendly though you have cyclethrough the speed settings.

I first tried the gentle cap. It wasn’t as painful as other epilators and is a great way to introduce yourself to the pluckingsensation.

I immediately switched to the fast cap. Although this cap removed more hair, even with this cap I was surprised that it madeepilation a whole lot more comfortable than any other epilator I have tried. It does take a lot more passes than the Braun7681 to clear all the hair, but it is so much more comfortable. There were a few hairs that required multiple passes fromdifferent directions before the epilator could pick them up. It won’t get the shortest hairs. This is especially true on thecurved portions of the body. I felt that it was easier to pick up these hairs with the Braun 7681.

Unlike the Braun 7681, I like that it has a separate smaller head for sensitive areas like the underarms and bikini line. Sincethe head is smaller, it makes it a little easier to navigate in these areas. At first, you can also use this head on your legs tomake the pain more manageable, though it will take a long time to remove all the hair.

I absolutely loved the attachable foot file. I tried it after 30 minutes of coming out of the shower, as suggested by theinstructions. It sanded the dry, calloused skin on my heels, leaving them smooth.

Emjoi AP-18 Emagine Epilator

converted by Web2PDFConvert.com

The Emjoi AP-18 is the world’s fastest electric epilator. Epilation can take a long time. With 72 tweezers, the Emjoi AP-18 Emagine Epilator contains the most tweezers ever on an epilator. It’s not only theamount of tweezers that make a difference. The head rotates at a fast rate so the end result is thatyou can epilate much faster with it.

With 72 tweezers, the Emjoi AP-18 Emagine Epilator contains the mosttweezers ever on an epilator.

With the Emagine, Emjoi set out to create the most efficient epilator on the market. It’s even got dual heads which help toremove hair from a wider surface area and keep the skin taut. This is the ideal epilator for the legs and large areas because itremoves hair quickly over large surfaces. The tweezers are coated with Emjoi’s Silver Ion technology, which protects againstharmful bacterial growth.

What Our Tester Thought

If you are used to epilation, this might be the best epilator for you. When I turned on the Emjoi Emagine, even I was startledby how loud it was. At 80 decibels, this is the loudest epilator I tested. I felt this was something used in a horror movie. Thisthing sounds like a chainsaw. Lol! This also means it is the most powerful epilator I have seen. With 72 tweezers, the tweezerhead spins very fast. It plows through hair like a lawn mower. I was able to clear large areas with hair very quickly comparedto the Braun 7681. It has a little plastic comb in the middle that helps lift flat hairs. Although it is only corded, I really loved thepower of this. Unlike rechargeable epilators, this one never slows down.

However, I thought the Braun 7681 did a more thorough job of removing hair. Additionally, I thought I had more precisionwith the Braun 7681. With this epilator, it is easy to miss fine hair and trickier to reach hair. The head is pretty bulky whichmakes it difficult to navigate around the curvier areas of your body. While it removes large amounts of hair well, it can bedifficult to pick up stragglers since it is not very precise. However, I found that if you tilt the epilator a bit and on use one ofthe head, you can use this epilator in places you wouldn’t normally be able to.

What we don’t like:

Being that this is Emjoi’s high-end epilator, it does cost more. The Emagine epilator must be plugged in because it uses a lotof power. Although this is a big and powerful and loud epilator, the gear is made out of plastic so I’m not sure how long it willlast. It is a tad bulky which makes it difficult to get into smaller areas. For some people it can be more painful to remove morehair at once, but it also means that you don’t have to draw the pain out. Also, because it is meant to sweep over largesurfaces, it can miss finer hair. There is no light on this epilator so in certain areas you have to go by feel. Further, the EmjoiEmagine is not designed to be used in water.

Philips HP6401 Satinelle Epilator

For anyone who is on the edge on whether epilation is for them, we think the Philips HP6401 is a greatoption. At under $40, it’s a great value. The biggest problem with this epilator is its noise, which can beintimidating. It measured 79 decibels, which makes it one of the loudest epilators we tested. If youdon’t have a whole lot of money and want a good quality epilator, the Philips HP6401 Satinelle Epilatoris a great value. We all know that the price is right, but how does it perform? Pretty well for the price.Through our research, we were surprised that it epilates on the legs as well as some of the priciermodels. Customers seem to be in love with it too. With over 120 reviews, it is averaging just about 4.0stars. Considering its low price point and performance, it’s an exceptional value.

Although it is corded, it’s simple and basic. Why pay for features you don’tneed?

Users like that the head is removable and can be rinsed under water. This epilator is extremely compact and lightweight.Although it is corded, it’s simple and basic. Why pay for features you don’t need? If you are just looking for a basic epilator touse on your legs, the Philips HP6401 is worth considering.

What Our Tester Thought

I loved the price of this. It’s also cute. You don’t expect such a cute epilator to have such a loud roar. I call this epilator mybaby lion. At 79 decibels, this epilator is one of the loudest. It’s a corded epilator. When I first used the Philips Epilator, Idecided to use the efficiency cap. I found that with it I had trouble grabbing any of the hair. I thought the efficiency cap wasuseless and I had to take the cap off to get better results.

This epilator worked well, but I found that it took a long to clear hair and I had to make 4-5 passes to obtain the result Iwanted. It can have trouble with smaller hair. With the shape of the head, I found it very clumsy to remove hair on areasother than the legs. Still, for basic epilation on the legs, I think it will work great and it’s a great value.

What we don’t like:

It doesn’t have all the fancy features of more expensive epilators. The biggest drawback to this epilator is that you have toplug it in. The cord is about 5 feet. You won’t find a wet/dry option, light, or rechargeable battery. It’s really designed toremove hair on your legs only – though you could theoretically use it in other areas on your body. With 21 tweezers, it is notthe most efficient epilator on the market. It takes some time to remove all the hair. It does seem to leave more hairs behindand doesn’t pick up some of the shorter hairs. At 79 decibels, it’s also noticeably louder than other epilators. We would have

I always was uncomfortable with epilators, but i think i will try the braun 7681, and also use the “under water technique”.

Hi Sam, Thanks so much for the comment. Using an epilator under water is great way to get used to the pluckingsensation. It is a lot less painful. Did you use it in the shower or bath?

Hi,In the panasonic one i.e ES-ED90-P, is it the same as ES-WD94-P? What is the difference and which is better? In the summary before you have mentioned that it has only one speed setting and no light whereas in the detailed reviewits mentioned that it does have both. So, I am a bit confused for that. Also, can this be used on face? Upper lip, chin and side burns?I am trying to decide between this and the philips satin one.

Thank you so much for sharing these reviews! I just bought the Philips satin perfect deluxe. After using it for the first timeyesterday, I was thinking of returning it and trying something else -Braun silk epil 7 or 9, or emjoi emagine. I can’t say thePhilips doesn’t work. The piles of hair prove otherwise! It just seemed to leave a lot behind, no matter how many times Iwent over the area. I would say it removes about half. After reading your reviews of the others, I decided I already havethe best epilator for me. The Braun can’t be used while plugged in and I would be worried about the battery not lasting. The emjoi sounds way too big to be useful anywhere besides legs and therefore wouldn’t be worth it to me. From whatI’ve read here, it looks like all epilators require a few passes to get all the hair. So I’m going to give my Philips another trytoday and just keep going until it gets them all! Thanks again! You saved me from the hassle of a return only to end upbuying it again after trying everything else.

I recently had a Braun Silk-Epil 7 series die after about 3 years of use (the last 1.5 years of which it barely held a charge). The attachments were also quite fragile–the microscreen on the shaver shattered within a month of use, and the shaverhead stopped working altogether about 2.5 years in.Customer service was pretty weak, too–I didn’t get responses to emails, and hold times for phone calls were 30-60minutes. The only quick response I got was when I mailed in the product for repair assessment–they quickly got back tome telling me it’d cost $90 to fix.The stated shelf life of the product is 3 years, but for $120 US, I simply expect a better product. Longevity is an importantpart of product quality, and on that end, this Braun product was a total rip-off. I wouldn’t recommend it.
