CMP SHOOTS

SCHEDULED TO

RESUME JULY

THE 9TH

Well the robins were there, but so was the cold weather. On Saturday May 14th we had two brave souls show up for the CMP Shoot. There were rumors of a snow flake being seen just after the shoot, but in spite of the weather a successful shoot was held. In the end the younger shooter prevailed, but only by a mere 10 points. We took the month of June off,. On July 9th we will be having a Poker Shoot.

So break out your 22 caliber or small bore rifle and bring it down for the shoot. If it has a scope or just iron sights, bring it down be-cause you shoot at playing cards that are face down on a cardboard backing. There will be volleys with poison cards and wild cards. You will have a separate score sheet to score your targets, and a great time will be had by all. The cost will be $10 per person, “no club guns will be provided” the shoot will start

at 8:00 am. Bring a friend and “let’s Play Some Poker the fun way”, see you there. For questions call Gene Herrman at 269-465-5026.

Junior Shotgun Program

The shotgun program is open to both boys and girls between the ages of 10 and 18. The basic purpose of the association is to provide training in the safe operation of firearms and to provide a fun environment for children to participate in a sport they might not normally have access to. Additionally, it teaches kids both maturity and responsibility. The preferred shot shells are #7 ½ and #8 shot. Each participant must provide12-guage shells, or through a grant from the NRA Foundation, 20 gauge shells have been supplied. Each participant typically uses 50 shells during each practice. Since the Junior shotgun program events occur primarily outdoors, scheduling of activities are subject to weather conditions. The first meeting and safety class will be July 12 at 6 p.m. at the clubhouse. Cost to participate is $50 for members and $65 for non-members. The program runs Tuesdays at 7 p.m. from July 12 through Aug. 30. If you have any questions, please call Carol Weller at (269) 876-7674 or email

If you are not a current CPL holder, you will need to be sure to separate your ammunition and firearm and place these two items in different parts of your vehicle when transporting your fire-arm. The clubhouse range opens at 7:00 p.m.

IDPA shoots are the second Satur-day of each month. Shooting runs from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Come on out and see what it is all about.

I would like to thank all the volun-teers that helped put this year's Action Pistol Match together. You made these matches successful and the shooters greatly appreciated your work. A special thanks goes to Sheryl for taking over the score keeping at the last minute. That was most important and your generous assistance is greatly appreciated. Another apprecia-tive acknowledgement to Gay for the tasty meals and keeping the kitchen serving up the BIG hot dogs and spa-ghetti. Thanks, everyone liked the food. The Michigan State Championship was won by our own club member Kevin Pounders. Congratulations to Kevin on your good shooting! National Records were set by grand senior Edwin Anderson from Pennsyl-vania. There were 11,656 rounds fired at the match, including practice days. That equals 191 pounds of lead. Thanks again for your contribu-

IN GOD WE TRUST "No people will tamely surrender their Liberties, nor can any be easily sub-dued, when knowledge is diffused and Virtue is preserved. On the Contrary, when People are universally ignorant, and debauched in their Manners, they will sink under their own weight without the Aid of foreign Invaders."
