A theatre production designed, built and performed by UWSA Class of 2013

T he Cyclops In 2010, I was given the oppor tunit y of a lifetime to direct the project of my dreams. As a class were challenged to completely design, produce and per form a theatrical production of Euripedes’ sat yr play “ T he Cyclops” within 12 week s time. Af ter a journey of improvisation and collaboration, the resultant was a truely homogeneous body of work forged f rom the minds of 80 esteeming young architects.

CONCEP T

T heatre, like architecture is also process driven and happens through the medium of time. Directing T he Cyclops, I wanted to experiment with perception through the control of light . In complete darkness, what one sees became realit y. By understanding how light behaved in darkness,we could control perception by selectively revealingand conceilng environments through illumination. Darkness then became the stage cur tain where per formers entered and exited seamlessly in and out of sight .
