Telehealth & Telecare

The European Innovation Partnership on Active and Healthy Ageing (EIP-AHA) aims to increase the average healthy lifespan in the EU by 2 years by 2020 by building a critical mass to change how health and social care is organised for older people across Europe.

Scottish representatives are drawn from relevant sectors and organisations from across Scotland - including the Scottish Centre for Telehealth and Telecare (SCTT), Joint Improvement Team, Scottish Government, and The ALLIANCE.

The role of Scottish stakeholders is to raise awareness within Europe of what we are working on in Scotland, as well as bringing the learning from other European partners back to Scotland. Our aim is to grow Scottish stakeholder involvement in EIP-AHA in the coming months.

Reference SitesIn addition to our involvement in the Action Groups, Scotland is an EIP- AHA Reference Site. Reference Sites provide the EIP with examples of comprehensive and innovation-based approaches to active and healthy ageing. They are coalitions of regions, cities, health providers and care organisations that are able to provide evidence of their impact on citizens and systems. Scotland is an official three-star EIP-AHA Reference Site and received one of the highest ratings among the 32 participating regions in Europe.

What is EIP-AHA?The EIP-AHA is a voluntary cooperation of EU, regions, industry, research institutions and healthcare professionals to find innovative solutions that meet the needs of the ageing population by addressing a triple win.

How EIP-AHA works?Six themes have been identified at European level on which innovation in health and care should be concentrated in order to meet our societal challenges. For each theme, a specific Action Group has been formed by partners who are experts in the domain and that have committed themselves to implement concrete and innovative actions at local and regional level in the field of active and healthy ageing.
