Re: BENEFITS PREMIUMS
In our annual benefits plan review for 2010, we found that the benefit
utilization increased, which means that there was an increase to paid
claims compared to paid premiums. There are many reasons for this
increase. One example is changing employee demographics (i.e. more
employees changing to family coverage to include a spouse and
dependents).
Effective April 1, 2011, there will be an increase of 9.9% to both
extended healthcare premiums (EHC) and dental premiums for all
employees enrolled in the benefit plan. For example, if you are
currently paying $50.00 for EHC premium, your premium will increase
to $54.95. Similarly for dental, if you were paying $50.00, after the
increase you will be paying $54.95.
It is important to note that each employee is impacted differently based
on their benefit class.
