Welcome to the beautiful month of February! I love this month, as we are not only celebrating the month of “romance,” but also all of the resolutions that we have put into place in January and continue to implement! I thought I would take advantage of this communication, and pass on an overview of the results from our Customer Satisfaction Survey that was done in October/November of 2014. Overall, our 2014 Resident survey results showed the highest satisfaction score since 2010! All 20 questions combined, we scored a 95.6% which is fantastic! Do we have work to do? Of course! We are working to achieve 100% on all 20 questions! Please stay tuned as we roll out meetings in February that will help us reach our 100% goal. We value your feedback! Have a wonderful February everyone! Mary Jane A Wonderful Evening at the Family Holiday Candlelight Dinner

From the WellnessCenter

February is American HeartMonth. Let us celebrate with “EatRed with Heart Health.”

It’s time to amend that “apple aday” aphorism. Tomatoes andcranberries keep the doctor away, too. New research shows thatincorporating these three red, round fruits into your daily dietcan reduce your risk of heartdisease by as much as 40 percent.A heart healthy diet is always thefirst step in treating highcholesterol or high bloodpressure. Fortunately, theantioxidant-rich fruits (apples, tomatoes, cranberries) are as tastyas they are healthy.

TOMATOES A new study byTufts University in Boston showedthat eating lycopene-rich foodssuch as tomatoes more than 5x aweek over an 11 year periodreduced coronary disease riskby 26%.

APPLES An apple a day canreduce LDL (bad cholesterol) byas much as 40%, according to anew small Ohio State Universitystudy. Be sure to munch on thefruit, rather than drink juice; thepeels house the most antioxidant.

CRANBERRIES Drinking three

cups of cranberry juice daily canraise HDL (good) cholesterollevels by 10% and reduce heartdisease by 40%, a study at theUniversity of Scranton inPennsylvania showed. Plus, thisjuice decreased diet-causedatherosclerosis (clogging of thearteries) by preventing plaquefrom forming. GO, GO, RED.
