Happy New Year!Achievementsand Ambitions
Whether you make a NewYear’s resolution or not, it’s goodto have goals. Use the followingquestions to reflect on pastambitions and make plans forthe future.
• What would you say is yourbiggest accomplishment inlife? How about in thelast year?
• What are some other majorgoals you’ve set during yourlifetime? What strategies didyou use to accomplish them?
• What advice would you giveto someone trying to achievea goal? Do you have anymotivational tips?
• What are some good dailygoals to have? How aboutweekly or monthly?
• What are some advantages tohaving goals?
• Do you usually make a NewYear’s resolution? Why orwhy not?
• Can you think of any pastNew Year’s resolutions thatwere particularly successful—or maybe unsuccessful? Doyou have any funny orinspiring stories?
What goals or resolutions doyou have for this year? How do
you plan to achieve them?Remember, if you make a goal, tryto stick to it. It’s always fun to getsomeone else to join in onyour goals.

group is good for you? Crooningin a chorus lowers your stress,
elevates your mood and can evenbenefit your heart rate as much as
yoga does. How would you like to be part ofour Belmont Village chorus? Youdon’t have to be a singer, you just
have to love to sing and enjoygreat company. Let’s have
some fun!Our first meeting will be on

Hearing Aids Can HelpYour Brain
Hearing aids have been provento improve the quality of life forseniors with hearing loss. Now,new research indicates they mayalso contribute to cognitivefunction. Results from a recentColumbia University MedicalCenter study show thatparticipants with hearing aidsscored significantly higher on teststhan those without hearing aids.Researchers believe that hearingloss is linked to sensory-specificcognitive decline, but the simpleuse of hearing aids can slow thatdecline or even prevent it bykeeping seniors with hearing losssocially engaged and connected.

With Carolyn MossFrom “The Eternal Goodness”
John Greenleaf WhittierI long for household voices
gone,For vanished smiles I long,But God hath led my dear
ones on,And God can do no wrong.I know not what the future
hathOf wonder or surpriseAssured alone that life and
deathHis mercy underlies. And if my heart and flesh
are weak,To bear an untried pain,The bruised reed He will
not break,But strengthen and sustain.
I have found comfort in these linesfrom Whittier’s poem and hope
that you find comfort, too.
