Char, Ken and Sugar

Jeanne’s JournalContinued

Upon hearing Sugar’s story,Maria and Char came up with aplan. The Winkelhake familywould foster Sugar at their homeon a trial basis. As in the best lovestories ever told, it was truly “loveat first sight.” Within minutes, theWinkelhake clan quickly fell inlove with Sugar. As best we cantell, Sugar also fell in love too asevidenced by her snuggling up onthe sofa with the children withinthe first 24 hours of being in her“new home.”

Maria says Sugar is nowproudly the sixth member of theWinkelhake family. The childrenare taking great care of Sugar andare proud of their new four-footedfamily member. Sugar seemspretty comfy, too. Curled up at thefoot of Carmella’s bed is where

you will find Sugar each night. Our love story doesn’t end

quite yet. The beauty of this lovestory is that Sugar still comes tosee Char and Ken at BelmontVillage every week. Maria bringsSugar to work with her twice aweek, so the McPhersons andSugar can be together. We thinkSugar loves being at Belmont, too.She is a natural around theresidents with her very sweet andgentle nature. Char said it bestwhen she said, “I’m so happy thatMaria and her family love Sugar asmuch as we do.”

Love ... it truly is amany-splendored thing.
