Taxation without RepresentationThe colonists had no representatives in

Parliament so they felt Parliament had not right to tax them without their consent.

The slogan “No Taxation without Representation” was coined by James Otis and Samuel Adams.

Adams set up the Committees of Correspondence so that colonies could discuss their views on the new taxes. Colonists began boycotting British merchants.

Patriots vs. Loyalists SpeechWrite two short persuasive speeches. One

from the perspective of a Patriot who is calling on people to resist the tax laws, and one from the Loyalist perspective calling on colonists to support the British crown.

Use persuasive language and facts to back up both arguments.
