What is Behaviour ChangeChange of the “norm”
Decision making process to develop oneself
One of the most difficult things to achieve...........and sustain
5 Stage process: Precontemplative, contemplative, preparation, action and maintenance.
![Page 5: Behaviour change](https://reader036.vdocuments.us/reader036/viewer/2022082218/54bc8cf74a7959c0508b45f5/html5/thumbnails/5.jpg)
Why Do We Need To Understand Behaviour Change? Can impact our clients in several ways:Trying something new, e.g going to the gym for the
first time
Losing motivation
Relapse or dropping out
Clients want to change but don't know how
Will effect all clients we work with
![Page 6: Behaviour change](https://reader036.vdocuments.us/reader036/viewer/2022082218/54bc8cf74a7959c0508b45f5/html5/thumbnails/6.jpg)

How To Apply The ModelPrecontemplative: Encourage self reflection, mainly with GP referrals
Contemplative: Can be first stage you see client. Let them know decision is theirs
Preparation: Encourage small steps with clients to overcome barriers
Action: Have support structures ready to prevent “Snakes and Ladders”
Maintenance: Maintaining focus on end goals. “Hard part has been done”.
Would the process be this simple?
