Santa Ana Department of Education S.A.D.E.

Hello,

First and foremost congratulations to Nakia

Casiquito, Jacob Duncan and Kelly Raton on graduating

from BHS. May you have great success in your

future endeavors.

I would like to thank all the BHS students for making the last

month and a half great. I look forward to assisting the

students throughout the rest of their high school career.

Congratulations to Joshua Masawiestewa and Derek Sandoval on

being accepted to The Native Youth Community Adaptation and Leadership Congress

(NYCALC) this summer. Four students from BHS applied for this summer program, but

only two were accepted. Joshua and Derek will be traveling to Shepherdstown, West

Virginia to attend a week-long student environmental conference for approximately 100

Native American, Alaskan Native, and Pacific Islander high school students interested in

environmental Issues, natural resource conservation, community leadership, and public

service.

Great job to Mark Chino III and Michelle Garcia on showcasing your singing talents at

the annual BHS talent show held on May 12.

Parents I have been in contact with some of your students regarding summer school. I

suggest any student needing to recover credits do so this summer. Credit recovery is

available during the school year, but I highly discourage going that route unless

absolutely needed. Credit recovery classes add another class on top of an already full

schedule in most cases.

Summer school will run from June 1st through June 28th. It will be broken up into two

sessions and run from 8:00am-3:00pm.

The first session will start June 1st and end June 14th.

The second session will run from June 15th and end June 28th.

If your student will be attending summer school please remind them

that more than two absences will result in an automatic drop

from summer school.

If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to

contact me at any time. I can be reached via phone at

505-503-0043 or email: [email protected]

Have a wonderful summer!!!
