HAIR TYPEDifferent media, such as water color or acrylic or traditional oil, require different types of brushes, and they come in four main types :• Natural Hair: For working in water color or gouache (Sable, goat, squirrel and camel).• Hog Hair (Bristle): When using oil and acrylic hog hair brushes are a good choice. They are naturally stiff. • Synthetic Hair: If you are on a budget or would prefer an alternative to natural hair, then it is worth considering synthetic brushes.• Blends (Synthetic and Natural)

•Beginning color is usually your main color.

•Never mixing more than three colors together.

•Write the names of colors underneath each circle.

•As you continue to experiment with color mixing, you will notice that the color usually dries darker. (This is because of the polymer in the paints, which is opaque and white when wet, but dries clear).

Page 31: Beginning acrylics intro

Notice the soft edge of the light on the water… how the movement on the water cuts through the light on the water…

Page 32: Beginning acrylics intro

Notice the halo effect of the sun… the color on the water… the reflection of the sky and sun…
